How do I stop Mozilla Firefox from prompting me to install a plugin? (for Windows)
Open about:config, and set plugin.default_plugin_disabled to false. Then delete the file named npnul32.dll from your Mozilla Firefox plugins folder. You may have to enable showing hidden files to do this.
How do I stop Mozilla Firefox from prompting me to install a plugin? (for Linux)
1. Open about:config, and set plugin.default_plugin_disabled to false.
2. Delete the libnullplugin.so from your Mozilla Firefox plugins directory. You may have to do this as root if you do not have write access to your Mozilla Firefox installation from your user account.
Am I the only one who thought the name of the camera a little misleading? It has 11 cameras so it should be called the Hendeca 2360. If it had 12 then the Dodeca appellation would be accurate.
Not to mention that in four years they (Congress) get to show their support for the ban all over again. Thus ensuring votes from the soundbite voters. It would be very poor politics to make the ban permanent.
When is this pirate stuff going to be over and done with?
When the MPAA (and RIAA) realize that there is a market here and stop attacking their customers, realize that their current operating procedure is flawed and evolve with technology.
In other words, never (or at least a very long time).
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when my fear is gone I will turn and face fear's path, and only I will *fnzownt*
I don't believe that only MS, IBM and Intel could have provided a popular standard platform that made the web practical from a business perspective, but somebody had to. Perhaps it could have been Apple instead, but it certainly wouldn't have been UNIX or it's clones.
Please tell me I miss read that and you didn't just suggest that MS, IBM and Intel developed TCP/IP.
Aside from that point of contention, I would think that the Dept of Defense choosing TCP/IP as their standard for all military computer networking had more to do with TCP/IP's use as a standard than anything MS, IBM and Intel did.
I never noticed because I don't use IE. I just brought up an article in IE6 and, while it doesn't look exactly the same as it does in Firefox, the bar is there as are the More | Prefs | Reply links. I notice the bar doesn't follow me as I scroll down the page and the slider doesn't show up unless I scroll down the page a bit. It doesn't work right but the reply is there and works (for me at least).
You realize the same argument can be made against child molestation laws, right? I'm not trying to compare the two, just saying that you should modify your argument a bit;)
I realize that your point was likely directed at the statements "Why do we need legislation to protect children?" and "Isn't that what parents are for?". But I believe you chose a poor comparison (yes, I know you didn't mean to compare the two).
Child molestation (and child abuse in general) is a very damaging crime with far and wide reaching consequences. Child molestation is often perpetrated by someone close to the family and quite often the commission of the act is done very subtly and the revelation of the act comes as a surprise to others. Laws are needed to prosecute people who commit these crimes, which can be read as legislation to protect children.
Enacting a law to prevent the sale of violent video games because some dimwitted mother decided to purchase a game rated as adult or 17+ or mature for her eight year-old and who then complained about the violence in the game is inane. This is not legislation to protect children, this is legislation to protect zoned-out, out-of-touch, uninvolved parents. If a parent doesn't want their child to play violent video games, then don't buy them. If a parent doesn't want their child to be exposed to violent video games outside of their view, get to know their child's friends and the parents of their child's friends. That is called responsible parenting.
This law is nothing like child molestation laws. Child molestation laws are there to punish those who have committed the crime and to prevent that person from repeating the crime; thereby protecting the children. This law says "we don't think children should see this type of media so we're going to ban it"; thereby protecting the children and removing the responsibility from the parent to decide for themselves if they think it is appropriate for their child to be exposed to this type of media and taking the appropriate measures as a parent to ensure their decision is enforced.
Just a word of warning. I don't know what the cause of it was, but the process of burning the restore disks killed 6 DVD-Rs. I tried both Memorex and Maxell disks, but had to buy HP branded disks to complete the process. I didn't try making another DVD from within Vista, but I have used those same Memorex / Maxell DVD-R disks in the drive under Kubuntu without any problem. That makes me think the problem likely lays with the System Restore program you have to use to make the disks.
Technically, I never paid the artist anything. I paid the vendor (Best Buy, Amazon, etc). The money trail eventually leads back to the label (BMG, EMI, etc) who then pays the artists. If the artists aren't getting paid I'd check out the people who sign the checks (BMG, EMI, etc). If you didn't get your paycheck, would you go after your customers or your employer?
I'm not sure how other OEM's are doing this, but HP uses the restore partition and gives you the option of burning 1 (one) set of restore CD's or DVD's. My recently purchased HP laptop used 2 DVD's when I made the restore disks. Once that was done I promptly installed Kubuntu, but I left the restore partition and can choose it as a boot option from the loader.
Troll? Sounds like we've got some rather childish folks wielding moderator points today.
Today? Try the last few weeks/months. There have been a number of complaints (some justified) about the moderation system. But lately it seems there are a rash of moderators why either don't have a sense of humor and mod down any joke they don't understand or who simply mod troll or flamebait anything they don't agree with. Seems to me some moderators need to reread (if they read at all) the moderators guide and mod to promote instead of demote.
No. Due to the (often decried as faulty) moderation system, you don't get karma for being funny. That's why someone who's being funny will get mod'ed insightful then adjusted to funny. For some reason./ doesn't think that being funny is good for your karma. I'd really hate to live in their nirvana where there is no laughter.

Yep, and as the first commenter said,
"And Via.. Well, they're VIA. Leaves a bad taste in my mouth."

Cute invincible bunnies that rip your throat out and can only be killed with the Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch?

Click Reply on the grey bar with the slider. It's next to More and Prefs on the right side.

Quick, someone cross the streams. We must put an end to this giant cream filled monstrosity.
Now that's just silly. Everybody knows it will be a pink chinchilla.
Because 6.9 would just be weird.
Don't try your Wookiee defense on us. Look at the monkey!

Come on, that's hardly a cross platform solution.
