You're wrong. It prevents downstream proxies from caching, but Google is perfectly capable of putting the SSL layer in-front of Varnish/Squid, and caching rather than always hit the backend.

Uhm, just because it's also caching doesn't mean it's the caching that is discussed, so wtf are you even talking about..

So much of the web is dynamically generated that caching hasn't been very useful in a long time

What? Just because something is dynamically generated doesn't mean it magically changes each time it's requested, or that it can't use last-modified or etag headers and implement "304 not modified", or be explicit about what is to be cached for how long, and under which circumstances. Again, what are you even talking about. Seems like you're just stringing words together.

We can't do that. There'll always be more people to feed and clothe, and our money will run out.

That would be true if there was no income and nothing produced, which happens to be not true. So, uhm? The money is there, it's just spent on other stuff.

But this professor is being a dickhead. He's predicting things at a time he'll be dead, (which he does for publicity) but he does nothing to actually progress this happening.

Occupy Wall Street Erects Women-Only Tent After Reports Of Sexual Assaults

    [..]

the 16-square-foot metal-framed tent will be watched by female members of the de-escalation team, and can sleep 18 people. "This is all about safety in numbers," 24-year-old protester Becky Wartell says.

One 23-year-old woman tells the paper that she'll be sleeping in the safe space "partially because of the recent attacks that have been happening." She adds, "I think that this will help bring more women to the movement as well. I think a lot of women have been hesitant and especially for those that are new and don't know a lot of people it's hard to find a safe place to stay."

But another 37-year-old protester from Park Slope tells the Daily News she feels safe enough in Zuccotti Park outside of the women-only tent: "Certainly women are the first target for any type of crazies, but I live in Park Slope, and the rapists there are more scary. I feel safer here.”

Furthermore, I know it's an article (and not a FAQ page, or a personal profile, or a sitemap or something) because it says "article" right there in the URL

The same would apply to http://www.site.com/article/12345, which is the version of that URL without the stupid bloat. You use case is for clicking random links in forums; why not interact with people who actually explain what they're linking to? It's not hard to provide decent anchor text etc, and when you searched for a phrase, it matters even less. And search is what we're talking about.
