While that sounds nice in theory, I still can't get an Architect to send me CAD files for anything. At least on the Architecture/Construction front, there aren't many companies willing to share this data, and for good reason. Company A shares file with Company B. Company B makes changes reflecting their work but also some changes to Engineering that go unnoticed. Building doesn't work/falls apart/fails codes/etc... Company A pays the price--and we're talking millions easy in many cases.
I'd like to see better document change tracking integrated with CAD software; preferably in a way that's open and doesn't mandate that all companies use the same version of AutoCAD (the most expensive, new release of course) for things to work.
Suffice it to say that I'm not holding my breath on this.
I loved the original Super Mario Kart. My brother and I played that game nonstop, and we had both built up quite the set of skills and tricks for the vs. battle mode. Near the end, we got to where we could do more damage with the green shells and banana peels than with red shells, since there were tricks to get the red shells to hit walls. Our battles were almost always decided by who pulled off the best moves, not who had the most luck with items.
Though I haven't played the DS version yet, all of the other Kart games seemed more about who got the badass items & when, and not so much about skill. Mostly, it's the "hopping" feature that I miss; without the ability to execute a well-timed "hop," most of the skill is gone.
Please Nintendo, bring back my hopping with the new version, and I'll finally break down and get a Wii.
I've had similar thoughts; especially regarding the balance between playing "aggressively" and playing "safely." Probably why quite a few high-level Eastern players are also into Starcraft.
I really wish it were that simple. I even convinced my boss to give it a try at my current job. I'm still living that one down; IntelliCAD simply isn't good enough for production drafting. Speed issues, screen regeneration issues, compatibility issues (admittedly, this is intentional obsfucation on AutoDesk's part); as much as I wish there was an alternative to AutoCAD, there really isn't. At least, not if you need to work WITH other companies in the Architectural field.
I've heard some rumors that you can also, like, make walls with 'em.

Yes, let's use violence to solve our problems. Maybe we should try that in the Middle East, too.
