I've been trying to figure out a way to get a fanless computer for some time. But it always turned out to be $550+. This is actually a great way to have your own fanless computer.
To make this computer silent, you'd have to replace the cpu fan with a large heatsink (like those Tunic towers) and take the fan out, and replace the PSU with either a low power fanless PSU or one of those 200W external brick PSUs.
If the HD is too loud (and you don't need the HD space), replace that with a 4GB IDE flash drive.
Also, I think this would make a great home server for most uses.
If its truly a barebones, cheap non-back-lit black LCD panel, then theoretically, it should not only be inexpensive to buy, but also have an insanely long battery life since it won't be a literal small computer like most phones now.
There's a difference. If microsoft funded people to write about microsoft products on wikipedia, it would be to help microsoft. Germany is funding people to write about things that would benefit the people of Germany.
I can do my laundry the old way, by washing them manually on a washing board, and then hanging them to dry on the clothlines. Using my washing machine and dryer makes that process go 10x faster.
There are examples of this everywhere. Yet we're still working full time and still have the same amount of leisure time as people did in the past (roughly).
Why? Cause we want more.
We want bigger houses and better cars. And we're competing with each other. Some $500k house in LA is an artificially high price, considering the real costs of building the house. Its high because everyone wants it and anyone buying it knows they can sell it for more later.
Thanks for those explanations. Wow, I had no idea how bad it was. I used to play DAOC, and so I can imagine how messed up that is.
I guess someone higher up wasn't happy with the subscription player base numbers, and decided to totally dumb down the game so the game would appeal to almost everyone. I guess they thought that the niche they had on the old game was worth losing for the sake of mass market penetration, after all it is star wars.
I guess they were wrong lolz.
Mythic is targeting another niche - the PvP niche. So they can coexist with WoW. However, I don't see how Warhammer PvP will be better than Camelot's PvP, since Warhammer will have 2 teams instead of 3.
While I totally agree with most of you, there is one thing - All the companies are competing with each other. When one company outsources to save bundles of money, the rest need to do the same to compete.
XP will be around and supported for at least 5 more years. I'm curious, what makes you think Vista's issues will be sorted out within a few months? I wouldn't even consider Vista for another year or so.
It seems to me that they did not hire/maintain R&D to stay on top of the game, and that milking its existing technology and products till it died was the best path to profit.
Powerful, easy to use, secure?
The only thing Microsoft has for the average end user is "easy to use", at the cost of security I might add.
You should take your own advice and do your own research from sources that aren't from microsoft.
One could get the inexpensive parts, the parts involving technology that has matured, then upgrade to the expensive parts later (hydrogen tanks, car, etc).

I remember everyone rushing to buy the game when the story broke out. Maybe that was the idea.

I've occasionally heard this gripe from other people. What did they do to ruin Star Wars Galaxies?

Mythic/EA has been developing a Warhammer MMO for the past couple years.
