The little I know about Portuguese culture brings me to expect a lot of these machines will be sold for %= EUR, but not to kids only. There's ways to abuse the system, and I suspect it will be abused.
There's always ways to abuse the system, but as far as I know, to be eligible to buy one for 50 euros you need to go into your kids school, fill a form, wait for verification and then wait for a notice to receive your "Magalhães".
Actually the name isn't "Magellan" but "Magalhães", and it dual boots (at least in Portugal) Windows XP and Linux CaixaMágica (a portuguese distro) as you can see here http://www.eescolinha.gov.pt/equipamento.html. It's being sold to kids in primary school for 50 euros and it comes with an option for mobile internet, which you can buy from mobile carriers. If you're not a primary school student, well you've got to pay 285 euros for one.
In first place let me welcome you to the beautiful Tubes that makes the so called Intarweb, Internet for short.
Second, please refer to this site http://www.willitblend.com/.
Third, enjoy your vacation on The Tubes.
Tasks like that are way beyond the capabilities of most users. Well yeah...beyond the capabilities of the average Joe that uses Windows and surfing MySpace is his full-time "job"...
If you want to use Linux you have to know what to do...well it was like that last time I checked...hmm I think so...
Disclaimer: Mac OSX user here, that doesn't mind playing around with config files.
The thing is that even with 5MBps line you won't get more than, say, ~150Kbps...The important is to have some Swedish seeders on the other side with at least a +100MBps upstream channel;)
You talkin' to me? You talkin' to me? Then who the hell else are you talkin' to? You talkin' to me? Well I'm the only one here.
Now laugh...that was funny...
If I setup a whole bunch of antennae and capture all kinds of HDTV feeds and feed them into my mytv box and then sell my neighbors set top boxes and charge them a monthly fee that'll allow them to watch the stored content, what is that? You Sir, are smart...
What about keyboards to use with your laptop? Or does everyone use the integrated keyboard?

If that is "VERY, VERY CLOSE" then how can I not smell what the Rock is cookin'?
Hey I've never been able to walk and drink coffee at the same time. So now whenever I want to sip a little caffeine I grab a chair and drink it...

Well I think you're forgetting Dr. Emmett Brown.
