This is a wake up call. Linux is becoming more popular and there will be people who will write these exploits for it.
I don't see how this is a wake-up call. A researcher wrote the exploit code as a proof of concept. Even though another researcher states that this might be in the wild, doesn't prove it is. For all we know, no-one outside of these researchers has targeted this chipset on Linux.
I'm all for Linux and FOSS, but trying to relate this as a wake up call is akin to trying to squeeze blood from a turnip.
If every other lawyer in existence is telling him he's nuts, does he really have a solid chance with a judge?
Maybe they're telling him that he's nuts because if he succeeds, the many lawyers who profit off of lawsuits involving P2P cases will have to return their third BMW.
This post is to see if I can get an achievement for spending all my mod points in one topic, and then piss them away by posting in the topic. Mod me +5 Funny so I can get multiple achivement off of one post. Or Troll, whichever you feel like...
But the question remains, would all those people have thought Halo was excellent without all the advertising surrounding it?
I, for one, found out about the original through the aforementioned advertising: "word of mouth". I had not seen any advertising about it before then. It was the first time I found myself enjoying an FPS on a console. I enjoyed the story. I enjoyed the music. I enjoyed the art that they put into the game (with the exception of the endless repeating rooms mid-way through the level). I LOVED the co-op.
So maybe you didn't enjoy Halo. Big whoop. Don't play it. (which also raises the question, how many people here hate the game without having touched it?) Your dislike of the game doesn't make it any less excellent.
Split personality's on the internet really show their benefit here. You keep two identity's on the internet, and they should never reference each other. Do your work and resume worthy activity under one identity, while expressing your opinion and having your *playtime* under the second.
You can let your close friends know the link between the two, but make the connection offline.
This way, you only allow the snooping guy to see what you want him to, and you increase your chances of getting that paycheck that is becoming more elusive lately.
Treat it like the separation between work and home, and if you don't have that separation, sucks to be you.
Slashdot is always behind the times...the CIP device was destroyed over a week ago....or if we still believe that events occur in real time, it was over an hour ago.
Here is another thought, simple and easy to do. Make a new user. Login as that user. If the computer suddenly runs faster, the user profile you have been logging in under is too cluttered and/or corrupted and needs to be retired. If the new profile runs just as slow as the old one, you know it's not the profile, but you've only spent roughly 10 minutes to find out.
(apologizes if this has already been posted and I missed it)
But the best way is still to download Windows Optimizer 2009. It removes all performance limitations Microsoft has put in their products and makes your Windows work as fast as your hardware allows.
That's a lie. I just installed Antivirus 2009 and it says that Windows Optimizer 2009 is spyware!!!
I'm actually sad that CC is closing. I've made a killing on thier open box items. Radio Shack re-packages returned non-defective items (depending on who takes it back that is). But Circuit City made some pretty deep discounts on thier items. I got my Canon EOS 350d from Circuit City, and a friend on mine got a 44 inch DLP and a Onkyo Surround sound system for 1500 (open boxes) 3 years ago. Best Buy's open box prices make me laugh, usually they take the price of the box off....
The warranties are addressed on Circuit City's Front page. They were (and typically are) provided by a third party insurance company, which is still in business, thus your warranty is still in effect.
You mean like Rubber [airmp3.net] Biscuit [rateyourmusic.com] by the Blues Brothers, with the "B" side being "B Movie Boxcar Blues"? I had that 45 as a kid. Strange stuff indeed.
Strange? That song is great. You just must have gone hungry when it didn't bounce back. Bow bow bow...
I remember Viewmasters. One of my relatives actually had the camera for taking your own viewmaster pictures, and she would put together her own reels from that. It was pretty schway back in the day!
Old as hell doesn't mean it sucks. If people are still using old as hell software, that means it stands the test of time. Next you'll be wishing people used a modern OS like Vista. Windows XP is old as hell, right?
Well we can't be expected to wait until Mom can take us to the Gamestop for our newly used games, the youngsters would have beat us there on their bicycles by then!

Another reason not to buy Intel Mobos. Asus and Gigabyte for me, thank you very much!

How to make it more manly? Pure and simple: Scratches, scrapes, and hair protruding from every other key on the keyboard.

He's a hack who steals ideas from other movies.
Who doesn't?
And yet, here you are, discussing it...
damn, I was gonna do that one....
Legal or illegal is an open question...
Without massive amounts of illegally shared content...
You have successfully contradicted your first sentence with your second. You have a long, bright future as an English teacher.
I think the Pirate Bay is more like a car...
*ducks*
I think it''s King Kong crap, after all, he's the one sharing the files!
