    I hate having to wait 6+ months (or 2 years if you stick with LTS) to get app upgrades, so I switched to OS X for my laptop years ago.

    Did you try ArchLinux? It's usually the fastest to get new packages.

    The cost of operating them is so high partly because of the anti-nuclear fears. Of course in the US, the military can do whatever they want, but private shipping companies would have to make exhaustive security measures (which aren't needed to operate the ship safely) just to satisfy the customers.

    I still don't understand why so few ships use SkySails. I mean, it increases their profit margin with the same speed but less fuel consumption, and I find it hard to believe the sails are more expensive than the fuel for a small number of voyages. Do the sails strain the ship's hull so much that it needs reinforcing, or does the hull have to be designed specifically for them?

    At a ball game, the same company that organizes the event also pays the security guards. They can choose to their own terms and conditions for attending the event. Also, a customer can choose either not to visit the game or visit another.

    At an airport, even though your money goes to the airline and/or airport authority, the security is provided by your own tax dollars, and neither the airline nor the customer can choose some other method or provider. Exactly because you don't have a right to fly, the government should not interfere so strongly.
