Let's see this : saying there is one only god is a blasphemy towards all polytheists religions (and cversely). That means that bible is now forbidden in Ireland...
I do NOT want to be dependant on an identity provider be it open or not. For me OpenID is just another tracking device, and what I fear is sites mandating its use.
If you want to control your online identity, refuse the use of email addresses as login or whateverID system, it is the only way.
It does not need for any site to be compromised. Once it is technically possible to track, it will be done, either because the site wants or because some big lobby (RIAA, MPAA or any other) imposes it.
So I also refuse to share my IDs between sites. I always use specific per site email address, and I do not want to loose this.
The patent has no value, french highway operator Cofiroute did this in the 1990's... And it failed : people waited on emergency lane for the toll to go down, thus creating big danger.
For me IM, email, has nothing to do on a phone. I want a phone to make phone calls, that's all. This device will be at the same time too big for a phone annd too small for a device with hand entry and screen to read. the fact that it uses free software is irrelevant. But it is the big trend with some free software projects (gnome, GPE being some of them) to just copy, add no innovation but just say "hey we're free". A free copy of a bad idea will still be a bad idea.
I also did this. For a company whose unsubscribe web pages demanded personal informations I did not want to give them (what use is my birth date or city of residence for unsubscribing ?)
Hum, never heard of so called "copy protected CDs" ? And there are countries were ripping a copy protected CDs is illegal, because it is a breach on a copy protection system...
Do you really think you'll be able to use the same music you bought for home or your ripped CDs on this ? No you'll be at most allowed to listen for each song 3 times, and you'll have to buy it once for home and once for each of your cars...

How do you call the fact for someone to sell a good, then later take it back from the buyer ? "can revoke content at the labels' request" ?

Remember how many features where announced in longhorn and did not appear in Vista ? So wait and see...
I drive a Ford, but in Europe, thus it's more German than American.
The lifetime of a car is 10 to 20 years. The lifetime of a MS OS is 5 years. Less when there is no update. See the problem ?

This kind of scheme is only a way for majors to make people pay for the music the major choose, and not the music the people choose.
And make it more difficult for artists t quit the majors, like some begin to do.

I remember reading about installing IE7 on linux with wine. But must be very few installations.

Europe is not cited, and certainly did more than 3 launches last year. It seems very strange...
