My [college-prep] high school had 5th to 12th grades; to get into calculus before graduation, you had to have been at least one year ahead before you came. Most of my friends graduated without ever seeing calculus - a real shame, especially considering several of them were very interested in learning calc and actually asked the students farther ahead to teach them the basics. This wasn't 15 years ago; this was last year.
When students that want to learn are refused the opportunity, there is something wrong.
Right now this doesn't worry me too much - after all, how much "identification of anonymous dissidents" could someone do based only on one's gender and a rough estimate of age? On the other hand, if Microsoft do expand to geographical location, occupation, and educational degree as mentioned, then it's rather worrying.
a combination [of] Applet, Flash, Javascript, and AJAX So... you're going to kill AJAX... with AJAX?
And it promises security, while using Flash.
Am I missing something here?
No, Windows is not easy to support; whether users can use it is not Dell's problem. But rolling out an entirely new operating system on its machines means Dell has to train new/existing support personnel to deal with Linux problems - from serious errors to "How do I launch programs without a Start menu?" - in addition to dealing with other issues (configuration, etc). Doing this would cost Dell a fortune which they probably would not get back from the marginally greater sales offering Linux would net them.
...that there's no new hardware that will run this.
Still, all this fun is a completely moot point if there is no new hardware available to run OS4 on.
the blame game!

Not bad... but it's not bandwidth-intensive enough to rival Flash.

On the other hand, he could do some pretty serious bribery to get more votes...
So Captain America is gone - or maybe he isn't.
Surprise, surprise.

Yeah - but does it run Linux?
Yes.
