  1. Re:Wasting Our Music Budget on Silence on Would You Rent a Song For a Dime? · · Score: 1

Agreed! The music industry is changing rapidly and their bureaucracy can't deal with it fast enough or clever enough. They are grabbing at straws, like Lala, and are not going to maintain their mostly the top-heavy, overpaid corporate pay scales. Too bad, as the artists are still not getting paid fairly, and every move by the music and movie industry is solely for their own profit margins. Nothing to do with artists, consumers or anyone not sitting in a $1000 chair and driving a high-priced European sedan. This is an industry on the ropes and suing their most prolific cheerleaders, for helping distribute what no one was going to pay for in the first place, is quite humorous. The downfall of the Western Music Industry is happening right now, and it's a laugh a minute! See you in Hell, RIAA!
Furthermore, the music industry showed their true colors when they first bitched about people being able to buy a single song, like on iTunes. This couldn't have been more of a message from God himself that *everyone* is fucking tired of paying for a CD that has one good song on it. Hell, I have over 300 discs and I have a hard time counting, on more than one hand, the number of CDs with more that %50 good songs. Even my favorite bands produces a couple of clunkers, and I'm not going to pay for that. So, fuck you RIAA and your fucking CDs. I'll tell you where the best music is...

my_hard_disc Where your music should be

            * All your music in one place: on my disc
            * Listen online as much as you want, lemmie open a port for you there...
            * Share music with your friends! Wanna borrow my drive? Of course, you do! If not I can burn you a MP3/DVD
            * Get MP3s for your iPod. yep, that's them alright.

They are usually sturdy enough to support a 1U or 2U racked computer as well as your sweet guitar effects, plus you don't need to brace the damn thing.

If there's any good IT people working in local government then they're probably looking for a better job, or making real money contracting special services back to the gov. It's like trying to find someone knowledgeable at Worst Buy; the blueshirts with any skills are on their way to something less shitty, so all that's left are the bottom of the barrel. 16. Re:Good! Why should we pay? on Nevada Governor to Bill Fossett Widow For Search · · Score: 1

They did it for budget reasons only. If you bothered to RTFA you would have noted that:

On Tuesday, before Kieckhefer revealed the governor's plans, state Emergency Management Director Frank Siracusa said state and local government search and rescue workers have a long-standing tradition of not charging when they hunt for missing persons, even for multimillionaires such as Steve Fossett.

"We do not charge the rich or the poor," Siracusa said. "There is no precedent where government will go after people for costs just because they have money to pay for it. You get lost, and we look for you. It is a service your taxpayer dollars pay for."

The lesson here is; don't get lost in Nevada because; 1) if your search takes too long they will charge you a shitload, or 2) if you're not important enough for a large search, you're equally screwed as they might not find you. Duh.

Mostly, no. There's no real reason or incentive for a coin-operator to install one, other than to cheat while playing themselves. Most of the other "ball-grabbing" magnets are meant to be there, like in Twilight Zone, etc. I've seen electromechanical scoring systems rewired to cheat though. I have 8 pinball machines (decided on pinball after changing mind while attempting to purchase an Atari Tempest machine) and one, Bally Wizard, has the fourth player wired to get more points than the other three players. I think it scores 100 on 10 point target hits, but I never bothered to fix it as it was a clever hack.
Pinball is a good multi player game even when broken, as everyone plays with the same disadvantage.

Hopefully before they grant themselves retroactive immunity. Another sickening thought. Then we vote and hopefully we make a change for the not-as-worse. I can't say better because we're still stuck with a corrupt two-party system that continues to allow its power to be sold to the companies with the most lobbyists and money. Could be worse, we could not have the ability to question and try and hold our government accountable for their actions while trying to "protect us." It does need a lot of work though. Perhaps when we're done playing Team America World Police we can concentrate on problems here at home.
