I don't think Obama had to re-authorize anything. Executive Orders don't automatically expire when a Presidents term ends. Besides, as bad as some of Bush's EO's were many of them were probably simple housekeeping type orders that there is no need to change. BTW, he has already rescinded the EO that expanded the ability of former Presidents and their heirs to restrict access to their Presidential records. Give him some time. There's a deep pile of shit to wade through.
I believe all of those were Vice Presidents who were elected on the ticket with their President so they were elected to the office of VP. Nixon's original VP was Spiro Agnew who resigned for corruption and Gerald Ford was selected to replace him. Then when Nixon resigned Gerald Ford became President without having been elected to either VP or Prez.
Actually in this context "wright" kind of works although it was probably unintended. One definition of wright from old English is a builder or creator of something.
Is the "teacher" of those home schooled kids getting paid at the same rate as a teacher in a public school? Do you pro-rate the cost of all of the household items used in that home schooling as part of that cost? For example your home computer, the value of the janitorial services in your home, etc.
Home schooled kids may do better in general but I guarantee you that if you limited the class size of public school classroom to something similar to the class size of a home school classroom you'd see an incredible increase in the quality of education.
realclimate.org is a blog by real climate scientists working in the field. Most of the stuff they put out is based on real scientific research or comments (like peer review) on their colleagues work. If you want to refute what they say you need to present scientific evidence to show why they are wrong. Of course they are also people with families and loved ones so they are concerned about the conclusions that their research leads them to.
Do you realize that 60% to 80% of fertilized eggs spontaneously abort without anyone realizing they were there in the first place? In at least 2 places the Bible implies that life begins with the first breath. My opinion is that until the fetus is capable of living separated from the mother it's nobody's business but hers.
There is a proposal that's been passed in a couple of states so far to basically do an end run around the Electoral College.
What it says is that as soon as enough states to add up to a majority of the EC votes have passed the same measure then all of the states EC votes will go to the winner of the national popular vote. That way the winner of the popular vote is guaranteed to win the EC and become president. It works for me.
I thought that too at one time but the increase in CO2 affects more than just temperature. For instance it looks like the increasing acidity of the oceans due to higher absorption of CO2 may cause problems for the marine animals with shells. That includes a lot of plankton that are at the bottom of the food chain. There are probably other "chemical" effects from the increase of CO2 in the atmosphere.
It's true that at ground level and in the lower atmosphere the energy absorbing capacity of CO2 is saturated but as you increase in altitude that tapers off until there is excess capacity for energy absorption so the increasing concentration of CO2 up there will increase the energy captured.
I think to be considered WMD's there has to be a sufficient quantity to actually be used as such. Obviously Iraq had not done anything more than token production of WMD's since before Gulf War I. I don't know if it's still true but back in the 1980's it was said you could find residual cocaine on much of the paper money in circulation. Should you be arrested for possession of cocaine for carrying one of those bills? That's equivalent to attacking Iraq for the WMD's that were found.
The yellowcake they flew out of Iraq earlier this year was well documented. From wikipedia:
The irony is that the Tuwaitha facility south of Baghdad already possessed yellow cake uranium. Between 1980 and 1982, Iraq procured more than 400 tons of yellowcake from Portugal and Niger which remained in a storage complex close to Tuwaitha. The facility and its yellowcake were monitored and frequently inspected by the International Atomic Energy Agency after the 1991 Gulf War. About 1.8 metric tons of "yellow cake" and 500 tons of unrefined uranium went missing when the Iraqi guards left Tuwaitha unattended during the 2003 invsion of Iraq. When the facility was first encountered by U.S. Marines, they believed they had stumbled upon an illegal weapons cache; according to nuclear experts, however, they actually wound up breaking the IAEA seals that are "designed to ensure the materials aren't diverted for weapons use or end up in the wrong hands." The Pentagon dispatched a team to survey the site "after a month of official indecision", finding it heavily looted and said it was impossible to tell whether nuclear materials were missing. This material was later sold by the new Iraqi government to Canadian uranium producer, Cameco Corp.
Well, I see your point but there's always some risk no matter what system you use and ultimately much depends on the integrity of the people involved. The checks and balances in place should certainly detect missing or too many ballots and they also record a chain of custody. Observers from the public are allowed to watch all steps of the process (in my county they've had as many as 50 observers at once). In my 36 years of voting in the state (vote by mail since 1998) I don't recall any issues around that kind of election fraud and this being Oregon I'm confident it would have come up if it had happened to any degree. The ballots are processed day they are received at the elections office. They compare the signature on the outer envelope to the signature on the digitized image of voter registration card and if it's OK they tally it and add the unmarked inner envelope to the pile of ballots to be counted. Later they remove the ballots from the inner envelope and stack them so they're ready to be run through the scanner (they may still hand count in the 3 counties with less than 2,000 population). They don't actually count the votes until after 8:00 pm on election day. The thing I worry about most is an authoritarian family forcing all members of the family to mark their ballot a certain way but I've never heard of that happening either. I do wish they would do audits of a statistical random sample of the votes to validate the election but that costs money the state or county is not willing to spend in the absence of evidence it's necessary.
Personally I usually hand deliver my ballot on election day or the day before (you should see the lines of cars dropping off ballots for big elections) not because I distrust the process but because I like the luxury of taking my time to research and ponder the races and ballot measures and I kind of like doing that anyway. What can I say?
In Oregon 100% of voting is by mail. We get the ballots in the mail a couple of weeks before election day and can fill them out and mail them in. They have to be at the elections office by 8:00 on election day, postmarks don't count. I usually turn them in at the county elections office since it's only 6 blocks from my home.
In Washington there is a lot of vote by mail but I don't think it's 100% yet.
Here in Oregon they mail you your ballot about 2 weeks before election day and you can fill it out and turn it in at your leisure as long as it's returned by 8:00 PM on election day. It works for me.
Sarah Palin's husband Todd has been a registered member of the Alaskan Independence Party as recently as 2001. In 2008 Sarah Palin gave a keynote address at the party's convention. I suppose you could rationalize that as a ceremonial function of the governor but would she have addressed the Democratic Party's state convention? Maybe if asked I suppose. Joe Vogler, the founder of the AIP, was quoted as saying "The fires of hell are frozen glaciers compared to my hatred for the American government. And I won't be buried under their damn flag. I'll be buried in Dawson. And when Alaska is an independent nation they can bring my bones home." He's been dead since 1993 but I don't doubt there are still members who feel that way.
Jerimiah Wright grew up in the segregated society of the 1940's & 50's so I'm not surprised that he has some bitterness about this country. As Mike Huckabee said "we've gotta cut some slack to people who grew up being called names...". He was a US Marine for 2 years and a US Navy Corpsman for 5 years and apparently served honorably, something he probably wouldn't have done if he hated the US like Joe Vogler did. I don't call being critical of American actions and wanting it to do better and live up to its promise hating America.
The real point though is you can spin this guilt by association anyway you want and it's still not that meaningful in the end.
I work for one of the companies that helped develop ADS-B.
I works by kind of setting up a network of ADS-B equipped aircraft. Each equipped aircraft periodically (like every 1 second or maybe every 5 seconds depending on the situation) broadcasts its position, elevation, speed, direction, rate of climb or descent and rate of turn. Any other ADS-B equipped aircraft within range (100+ miles) receives that and can determine it's position relative to the broadcasting aircraft, meanwhile broadcasting it's own information. So all of the ADS-B equipped aircraft within range are aware of each other. Of course ATC on the ground can receive this information as well and it's also possible for them to broadcast information from the ground with information they get from radar and transponders about non-ADS-B equipped aircraft. And in the airport environment the various ground vehicles can also be equipped as an aid to ground traffic awareness. If you've got the full package installed you can display the information on a multi-function display that is similar to radar.
For more information about a real-world test of ADS-B look up the Capstone project in Alaska.
3) Tort reform didn't make any difference because even though you hear about the occasional huge awards the cost of malpractice suits doesn't amount to a hill of beans in the overall picture.
Get politically involved. Write your congresscritters. Back Obama up when he's doing something you approve of.

And yet when she actually did fire the librarian apparently the rest of the community rose up and made Palin rescind the firing.
C13 is heavier by one neutron than C12 and it's enough to make a difference.

... 20+ years of attending an anti white/anti US church ...
As opposed to the anti US Alaskan Independent Party the Palin's are associated with?
Of course the last time the UN weapons inspectors were kicked out it was GW Bush who did it. He was ready to start bombing.

Something is only worthless if no one would ever want to buy it. If someone might want to buy it but you can't sell it then it's priceless.
