Exactly, the BBC's funding isn't directly dependent on its viewership. The viewers pay for the BBC to be run through the licence fee, and now they want to limit what we can do with the content we paid for.
Doesn't the UK already have age limits on some games? My copy of RE4 has the same "15" label as films use, God of War has an 18. The age limits on films are non-voluntary and legally enforceable, presumably the game limits are too?
Potentially. But what about processor intensive things like image manipulation, or opening Office documents? Do you really want to run those in an interpreted language on an ARM?
Why would I bother with Safari now?
This is modded 5, Insightful? If you took that attitude you wouldn't use any software, certainly not IE, Firefox and not Windows.
You're talking like this is a bad story for Sony. As it is, it's excellent PR - all these mentions of the PS3 and Resistance on the news, talking heads mentioning how realistic the graphics are and how violent the game is, minutes of gameplay footage being shown on primetime TV. I wouldn't be surprised if a Sony agency stirred the thing up, or at the very least is happy to have it happen. It's not like the target market for Resistance is going to care about offending the Church of England.
Not everyone can buy the student/teacher version though, can they? I thought it required proof of being a student/teacher. The normal price of Office Mac is around $300, which is expensive enough to make people look elsewhere - it's half the price of a budget Mac, after all.
I just found the N70 really fiddly to use - the 5-way controller was way too small, the camera slider was too loose, the UI was overly complex and very slow to redraw.
Is it much of an improvement over the N70? That was a truly awful phone. Mobile phone reviews seem to concentrate on feature lists instead of the actual experience of using one day-to-day.
Exactly, and I'm glad they do it - look at what happened when they allowed Ricky Gervais to create a second series of Extras when the show had clearly already run its course.
Possibly, but aren't those mass market users more likely to just spend $500-600 on a laptop that doubles as their desktop? You couldn't use the Foleo as a desktop machine.
I don't get who they're marketing this to. Treo owners are mostly business people or techies, who most likely already have a laptop. At $500 it's not cheap enough to be a budget laptop replacement.
Microsoft's gaming division lost $485 million in 2005, $1.26 billion in 2006, will lose money this year, but they 'expect' to be profitable in 2008:

I've been playing online on my Wii since Friday when Mario Strikers Charged came out, it's a fantastic game.
Also, even if you don't rent, it's more like £20 to try a game, as you can trade it back in afterwards.
Dual Shock is "..a light, comfortable to hold, well-designed pad with all the trimmings."? I always found the PS2 controller really uncomfortable compared to the GC one.

Channel 4's UK OnDemand service is the same, Windows only DRM. What happened to the work on the BBC's open source codec?
Agreed, I'd never go back to an inkjet. You'll save more than the up-front cost difference in ink pretty quickly.

You can read why Apple went with KHTML here: http://lists.kde.org/?l=kfm-devel&m=10419709231863 9&w=2
Basically, KHTML is a small, lean, fast implementation of an HTML renderer that is easier to develop.

Textmate + Megazoomer?

But then how often do you actually dial a number on a mobile? Most of the time it's just contacts->first letter of surname->call.
Ah, I see he wanted a 9GB DVD->single layer DVD convertor. (replying to myself)
Or Handbrake (MediaFork now?), which is free as well.

Wouldn't you want some kind of tablet device for reading, not a fold out laptop?

IMHO, Excite Truck is a very good game, much better than the reviews indicated. I've probably played it for 20+ hours and really enjoyed it.
Quite a lot of single player JRPGs require grinding at times - FF3 DS did, Tales of Eternia seemed to (I gave up because of it).
The UK has no official separation of Church and State. IIRC, the head of state (the Queen) is also head of the Church of England
