    Bundle program with os (so it's installed on every computer) and use encrypted distributed storage (there are some projects out there) as virtual hard disk.
    Connect to that disk manually on every computer startup so there are no traces in init.d/autoexec.bat.
    I was thinking about using the unused parts of the harddisk but the encrypted data bits should be really random while your deleted jpegs aren't so it would be
    very easy to detect....

    I hate that way of putting arguments - if something will become more popular it will for sure have much more vulnerabilites. There is alot of people saying that for linux or mac, explaining that way security problems found in commonly used M$ products. The case of Apache - shows that it is plainly wrong - it the most popular product on the market and one of the most secure - so the difference is in good engineering.

    but it doesn't have so who cares if it would/or wouldn't. lets speak about the facts and the fact is that windows is vulnerable to all this bugs/exploits. MS has more market share and it's MS that gets all the money so it's MS that should spent money also on securing their products.

    argh I forgot to mention the disk shareing - so you export your local disk/home directory to the remote server trough SMB that is encapsulated in NX protocol and here it comes - you can use your files on remote server copy them/edit them and do whatever you want in secure way without the need to scp every few minutes.

    NX uses CUPS for printing support so you can print from remote servers to your local printers using the IPP 1.1 protocol. It's possible also to use my local printers exported by SAMBA which is quite useful ...

    NX is about networking - high latency/long distance(many hops) - are enough to run X applications.

    Printing support. Connect to remote NX server - and print on your local printer.

    Multimedia support - launch xmms remotely and hear the sound in your headphones ....

    there is already NX in Gentoo but I don't know of any other distribution officially supporting NX. But Nomachine is supporting most of them so it's just a matter of downloading the right package from their site.

    I would be great also to have the credit card size CD version with knoppix and NX. Like this I could have this always in my wallet booting whatever computer I want and connecting back to my app server back at work. So let's wait for somebody to release the stripped/mobile version of the CD. Why carry the whole CD of software with me if I can have only what I need to access it ?.

    it's not proxying ssh ssh is used for logging in in a secure way, the rest is done trough ssl tunnel for the security reasons, as the old good ssh is not well suited for this kind of transmittions(too high latency,compression that is not always needed etc...)

    dxpc is dead already for 3 years, while NX was born 3 years ago and much improved since then... if i remember well NX was created from dxpc ... but have no idea how much was changed and what was left ....
    But i was experimenting with both tools and NX is a reaaally big step forward ...

    the difference is measured by 3 years of hard hacking of X, proxies, improving the latency, decreasing the bandwidth usage, user friendliness, and integration with current desktops.

    So instead of not so useful command line tool (as it was with dxpc) you have now point-and-click solution to run your application wherever you are without
    having to take care about the link and distance between you and your application server. I think this is great for our open source community as this could be open standard opposite to Windows Terminal server. I know that there are a lot of companies using X (some of them using to Windows Citrix solution). Now with NX probably we can stop them and turn them back to old good Unixes.

    Anyway it's nice get the zaurus put the WiFi CF card and go around office browsing web, reading email and using the whole KDE desktop ... ;) having access to everything we need. Maybe it's not the best UI in the world but when you need it it will give you the possibility to do it. Other thing is that now KDE is an example what you can run - but you can run the special prepared version of applications that will have access to your stored on the server files.

    I went to Russia and Ukraine this year. I was travelling everywhere in Caucas ( near Tchechenyan border also ), Crimea, i've seen most the things
    beetween Black and Caspian sea. I was never afraid
    of anything, of being attacked, robed or kidnapped.
    And then after one month i came home - i was
    coming back to my apartment and i attacked by
    three guys that didn't even tell me why they do
    so.
