.. I'm implying OpenSourced DRM attached to PD works.
We the public take this to be our license to use the work.. and wold be thieves to stay way from it. If they disable/circumvent the DRM. then they're prosecuted by *IAA like anyone else.
Too early?
WHINE: DoD contracts all their cool IT work out to Contractors.
I'm a contractor on a fairly major contract w/ DoD.
I have several years of experience and cultivated contacts specifically useful to this contract. If a 'blue shirt' were to be doing my job,it would likely take 'em several months to adjust and start being as productive. --a few short months later, they'd be shipp'd off to their next assignment. The result would be mostly chaos for the project.
I'm not against DoD using enlisted folks to do the IT stuff.. I think they should.. it gives great experience for their future. But some pretty basic Military Life aspects will need to see change before it's viable.
... I've got MS and wound up paying for like 30 tickets one day because I stood there shaking. The resultant discussion at customer service brought out my turrets.

There is unrest in the forest,
There is trouble with the trees,
For the squirrels want more nuts
And the oaks ignore their pleas.
The trouble with the squirrels,
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the nuts.
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made.
And they wonder why the squirrels
Can't be happy in their acorn free zone.
There is trouble in the forest,
And the creatures all have fled,
As the squirrels scream "Oppression!"
And the oaks just shake their heads
So the squirrels formed a union
And demanded equal rights.
"The oaks are just too greedy;
We will make them give us nuts."
Now there's no more oak oppression,
For they passed a noble law,
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw.
tsjaikdus, this isn't about you. it's about your grand pa, your disabled cousin and my sister w/ other disabilities.. who says one GUI must serve them all?
Your GUItopia will never exist until the world is peopled by nothing but perfect trek-drones. Since that is unlikely to happen, we can embrace the tools that make our lives and the lives of our friends and family easier.

Artists at large have everything to gain of a system where people listen to a hundred time more music. The good artist probably benefit. The bad to mediocre artists wouldn't benefit from me having the opportunity to make better informed choices about their music.

once they realize we can store 256GB on an A4 sheet http://www.techworld.com/storage/news/index.cfm?ne wsID=7424 the cost of a sheet of paper will be as high as the RIAA execs.

You can lead an idiot to reason, but you can't make 'em think.
With 10%+ unemployment (in the US), Step 1A might take a bit of time.

Dude... I ran diagnostics on your "out-of-band" issues.. You've got outdated drivers for your metacarpals. Buffer overrun is what I'm suspecting.

Now, we can PRECISELY kill the wrong people.
"yeah, we shot our own guy in the back.. but look how tight that grouping is!"
...until some clever chap writes an app that simulates these noises. Yeah, it's a flash drive but it sounds like an RLL drive churning FIDO mail.
...at 17500mph she should cross at about the 5.35 second mark.
but really.. weren't they twins separated at birth?
