The Yamaha ZX-12R will do mid 9 second runs with a good driver.
The ZX-12R will indeed do 9 second runs (mid? Nah. High, if we're talking stock.) with a good driver, but it's manufactured by Kawasaki. Suzuki has their Hayabusa, which has on a few occasions ripped off sub-10 second runs in stock form. Honda's CBR1100XX will run a very low 10; not sure what Yamaha has in that range.

PS. Oh yeah, the ZX-12R retails for closer to 12k than 10.
If Microsoft offered this as, say, an Office license subscription, which would allow you to use ANY version of Office; past, present and future, this could be a really nice thing. Think there's any chance of that happening? The article didn't really make it clear either way, except for some FUD about being forced into not upgrading when you want.
The second you capture something on film, you're stuck with something with a different color balance and contrast than the different scene. (Film can be adjusted for more/less contrast, and for more/less color saturation, and the color balance certainly is different between emulsions, too..)
Also, it's rather common practice to do a little tweaking of pictures; a little dodging and burning (oh, and adjusting contrast, too) in the darkroom (or, more and more commonly, photoshop) is part of the process when doing a print.
Good luck finding a single photograph that shows the original scene exactly as it were, colors, contrast, and all.
Good thing I qualified that with 'does appear' -- seems like it's ten days after election for the _federal portion_ of it. Anyone (lawyer?) have a link to the election laws stating this? Is it that the Florida statute is overridden by Federal law when it comes to the federal portion of the absentee ballot?:-)
...silly me, I didn't research this and actually believed the press had a clue in this matter. (Shoulda known better.)
It does appear that even overseas ballots are required to "be completed and returned as soon as possible so that it can reach the supervisor of elections of the county in which your precinct is located no later than 7 p.m. on the day of the election. " It even mentions that when mailing absentee ballots to overseas electors, instructions should be included to ensure that they understand when they need to mail it in order for it to arrive before 7pm election day. All this from the FL statutes...
...as they're still awaiting the overseas absentee ballots. Last year there were some 2,300 of them, and that may (depending on recount results) be enough to change things around...

PS -- Not to mention we have another month and change before the electoral college vote; if Bush ends up with 271 of the electorals, no telling what could happen there.
This is one of the problems with our political system: People who will only vote for the candidate most likely to win.
You should vote for the person you WANT to win, not for the person you believe WILL win.
Actually, I think a very large problem is people basically voting against someone; a person may support Browne but will vote for Bush just to keep Gore out of office. Unfortunately, this also perpetuates the two party system.
Who CARES? The point is: society didn't work, didn't earn the money; the rich man did. If he wanted his son to have the property, why should someone step in and say, 'well, society would benefit more from it'?
If it's determined that redistributing the contents of wealthy persons' bank accounts would 'benefit society more,' is that justification enough for stealing?
Leisure Suit Larry (the first two were great, the later ones were boring to me), Police Quest, Hero's Quest (later Quest for Glory, I think), King's Quest, Space Quest... awwyeah.:) I remember the adrenaline pumping during my first car chase in Police Quest. They just don't build 'em like they used to.
As far as game playing goes, complexity is often a good thing. Look at Sim City or the Civilisation-type games
Agreed. However, sometimes it is taken too far, and ends up making the game annoying and cumbersome, not more fun or interesting. Compare Civilization to Colonization. In the latter, there was far too much micromanagement for my taste, and I ended up getting bored really quick. Civilization, however, can still captivate me.:-)
...but I just can't get into a lot of new games these days. The fun is just lacking; I miss games like M.U.L.E., Defender of the Crown, Seven Cities of Gold... not to mention all the Konami cartridge games for the Spectravideo MSX machines! Man, those were the days! I think part of the reason was that they were easy to get into and start playing. Nowadays you end up having to memorize umpteen key combinations and other silliness... bah.

The big problem with an averaging system is that it makes the job of moderating much more complicated and less fun. Under Slashdot's system, it's
pure instinct - good +1 , bad -1.
The DB ships with the SAP R/3 system, which is their main product. However, most any company will quickly and swiftly replace this DB with a good commercial one such as Oracle for use with R/3. IOW, it ain't that great.
Or for probably much less, get a bone stock Hayabusa or ZX-12R, both of which are capable of high 9s in the 1/4 factory stock.
