Not a twit. Don't use twitter. I have over 22 years of experience with MS and I am a recovering MS developer. I know what a piece of crap almost everything MS makes really is. I'm not posting anything else on the subject. Believe what you will. FUD is mastered by MS. Feel free to continue filling MS warehouses with cash if you want, however, I have this bridge...

OMG! I'm a twit AND a Troll. Help! I'm surrounded by Trolls and twits calling me a troll and a twit. All of you ms fanboys defending your activex technology and every month or so, there's security issues being disclosed and attacks in the wild.

It used to be called a flame war. Now I guess it's called a troll war. How much are you nitwits getting paid for this?
Get off my lawn!
Another reason to not use ActiveX and NOT use an OS that allows executables to do anything with the kernel via an untrusted WEB PAGE. This is another reason NOT to use Vista.
Where are my mod points?
It seems they got lost about a month or so ago and never came back.
I was not aware of that. Thank you for the post. I'll give it a try. It is too bad that it requires oracle, however there's some hope a little light at the end of the tunnel at least.
The OP is probably (Still can't get to it...) from someone who uses FreeBSD, which means they WILL NOT be impressed with ESX/ESXi which REQUIRES WINDOWS to run and admin. VMware has ignored the FreeBSD and Linux user base for it's "enterprise products".

HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!
Sorry, I guess maybe you were serious.

...(Windows 2000 is not something I'd consider reliable...
Windows 2000 was perfectly reliable until windows 2003/xp came out - then (as if by magic) - it wasn't.
I think it was also right after a few ms updates and patches were rolled out.
Actually - the point is, it came from Symantec. Don't just take their word for it. Sign up for the subscription - in order to read the supposed facts. Oops I guess they were slashdotted or a victim of the ibot; none of the links work.
What I think you're looking for is "carp" and all flavors of bsd do it. You may want to check out pfsense: http://www.pfsense.org/. I've used it for years. Depending on requirements, just throw the appropriate amount of hardware together. You can fail-over ipsec tunnels with it. Suitable for all enterprise uses.
That's a good rule - AS A MINIMUM.
Considering Server 2008 is running on the VISTA kernel and was released to the public *with SP1*, maybe make SP3 the line instead. My workstations and servers are windows free - how about yours?

Our 150+ users use either openoffice or staroffice on Linux or Mac every day and thank us almost daily since switching. Not one user wants to go back to the macrosnot trash heap we were on before. The IT staff focus is now on improving processes instead of fixing, patching and rebooting.
Let me fix that for you:

That site is like all the other ones. They only know about the data *they* track. Market share in other places shows firefox at around 50% and IE around 46%. Consider the source. If the site web address has aspx in it, there's a good chance there's a little MS bias.
Do a little research. Vista admins are so - well, I wouldn't want my karma to go down.
First: You are an idiot for:
A. Running Vista in a business already. Repeat after me: Service Pack 2 Plus 6 months for anything Microsoft makes.
B. No AV on a windows domain? Are you fucking nuts?
Here's what you could have found had you looked. Vista IS affected. This issue is on all versions of windows and all versions of excel.

You must not work in IT. Since you're here on/. you must be a troll or just new here.
The slow upgrade cycle is called:
Service Pack 2 + 6 months. Microsoft knows this and they push SP 1 and 2 out the door faster, which is why some are doing SP 3 + 6 months.
The days of buying anything Microsoft "as soon as it comes out" are over.
IMHO, You might want to try Linux, or some form of BSD on that laptop instead?

Um, what? This has nothing to do with the kernel.
Clarification - Maybe not this one, however: Using ActiveX allows system access
Ever heard the phrase "ActiveX kernel mode"?
