I don't know about Spotify (new to me), but imeem only gives you a 30 second sample for songs that artists/labels complain about. They have a lot of songs, but it isn't comprehensive. The selection is still much better than last.fm's on-demand options, but not as good as the radio playlists.
I listen to metal- Rush, Iron Maiden, Metallica, and bands that take after them. I don't know how it is with other genres, so YMMV.
courts have ruled that companies can't trademark numbers
I'm not a company so I hereby declare copyright on all numbers. You must pay me 50* cents every time you use a number- I would post my bank account info here but that has numbers in it so you'll have to pay me for that information so that you can pay me.
For those of you who are wondering what CA is, it stands for Certificate Authority. You see, the Germans have a hard time functioning without a constant stream of praise, so they have this authority in place that prints and sends certificates to people. Every day thousands of Germans get congratualted for crossing the street, for finding their car keys or for eating their 1000th potato of the month. You know you've walked into a German household when you see the wallpaper of framed certificates.
The problem here is that the company deleted the certificate-printing program since they thought someone was trying to hack in and print more certificates for themselves- no one is THAT special so they had to stop him. They forgot to have another program ready to print more certificates, so now Germany is under threat of entering a depression since they no longer get certificates telling them how special they are.
On a serious note: I don't follow this article very well with all the acronyms being spelled out but not explained, and no background knowledge of anything going on here. If someone would care to explain what is going on here to someone that has never heard the term CA, you should get a +5 informative easily.
So is the problem the ribbon UI or the lack of customization? I know as long as there is no customization they are effectively one-in-the-same but if you had free will over how it works, would you stick with the menu-based or ribbon-based layout? Basically is the ribbon a bad innovation, or is it merely poor execution?
I think the ribbon works well too, and has potential. Most complaints I have seen stem from the fact that you can't customize it- if I had to use Office more I might have more of an issue with that (I'm still in college so things might change in a few years). I think if customization is added all but the most "extreme" power users could benefit. I don't care much for the old menu-laden UI; I am sure a better UI is possible, but the ribbon is easier to use.
Two: Said controller does not exist. They listed the controller as ARC-1680ix-20. Areca makes no such controller. They make an 8, 12, 16, 24 but no 20 unless they've got some advanced product unlisted anywhere.
Why not get one last good experiment out of it and see how big of a crater it can make? If it makes enough of an impact, we can test our impact-based apocalypse theories.
Sloth as one of the seven deadly sins was originally meant as apathy, not laziness; the translation is ambiguous between the two words and somewhere along the line the laziness one stuck.
You've got me. I thought you'd never realize that a toilet flush can be used countless ways- hit that lever and the sky's the limit! Compared to a song where you hit the button and you know exactly what's going to happen.
Sorry but I don't know how many people send toilets over BitTorrent- you do have a point that you can use a toilet as part of a performance and distribute it freely (maybe a toilet that can be readily known to be a certain brand could give you issues). The only thing is the analogy doesn't seem so focused on how many non-DMCA'd videos of toilets are on Youtube, it is just focused on how you don't mail a dime to the plumber for each flush. Don't go thinking you can do ANYTHING with your toilet, though. There is a woman in the area being forced to remove the toilets on her front yard being used as flower pots; I don't think it is right for them to go after her, but a toilet is a bad example if you want to say you can do anything with it.
I don't care to argue about the merits of no or limited copyright (it'd be one-on-one by this point), I just don't like the analogy and it annoys me that people against copyright pick on technical details, yet have glaring issues with the most common argument they use. Otherwise the arguments are generally pretty good and makes for an interesting discussion.
They know what they want. Ask them what they want in a car and they'll say an SUV with room for 8, at least 50 MPG, all the latest gadgets and costs less than $12,000. If you can't provide that then it's your fault.
I mean this for humor's sake but thinking about it I'm scared that it might be an accurate description.
You can use the repaired toilet as much as you want just as you can play a purchased track as much as you want. Regardless of your opinion on copyright, this is a bad analogy. I'm happy to discuss whether limited copyright or no copyright is better, but flawed arguments don't help anyone.
Ok so what you're telling me is, the most important event in the history of the human race was taped over?
Well if it was to tape the Superbowl then I don't see the problem.
Dude, all magic eyes are broken. Never once have I managed to get those things to work for me.

Because Last.fm sends information about you to the RIAA (via parent ABC).
But what would the supervisors have left to do all day?

*This one's a feebie. You better enjoy it.
All I know is with Firefox on 3.5 and Windows on 7.0, Windows must be twice as good as Firefox. AOL of course trumps everyone.

Go insane. It's the new encryption.
Sorry, the /. poll didn't say tape exists. Nor Cowboy Neal I guess.

He glued the 8 and the 12 together. Duh.
I knew the founding fathers missed something in the Constitution...

I don't see the problem here. I'm sure they have good reasons for withholding the information. It is not like they've done anything untrustworthy.
Cellphone: "Sounds like you got hit by another blue shell- do you want to post it to Twitter?"
Damn. I better read more of my spam then.
users are clueless about what they really want

I say he gives the companies a deadline when he'll publicize the hack. Put the ball in their court.
Hey, a guy can only play so much golf in retirement.
No hurricanes = more time to play around the gulf coast. I think this is entirely motivated by him wanting to play golf.
He's moving cold water into the warm water via pumps
That sounds incredibly inefficient. At least he could use a bucket rather than shoes.
