I was primarily referring to XP with Service Pack 2, which seems to be the current "normal" operating system of the world. (For better or worse...) I couldn't find an authoritative source, but this site say Gartner estimates Vista will be on 28% of pcs by the end of 2009. I imagine that by default, XP is the greatest proportion of the other 72%.
I don't think support for 2000 is a big issue... other than if they are supporting XP, it's silly not to support 2000, because XP is nearly the same core operating system.
Saying "Republicans are evil"... well, it is arguing, but there's no actual conversation going on. In fact, it's so obviously unreasonable that sensible people will probably stop listening to you.
The two primary parties have opposing stances on hundreds of issues. The same party is not correct on every single one. There are some issues that the Republicans have the correct stance about, others that the Democrats have the correct stance. If you can't accept that, you aren't reasonable. Therefore, you should narrow your criticisms down to issues rather than parties. Both parties aren't the same in the details; they're the same in their overarching desire to achieve power without any particular scruples, and by tailoring their stated ideology to whatever gives them the greatest advantage.
If the Republicans started pushing for isolationism, the Democrats would promptly swing around to oppose it. They aren't motived by ideology, except insofar as they have to pretend to be so, in order to attract the voters. Individual politicians may have ethics and character to one degree or another; but parties... parties themselves have no scruples. Support a candidate, support an issue, don't support a party.
Many of the decisions being done at Mozilla headquarters seem to be done pursuant to an agenda which is at significant cross-purposes to the desires of the actual user. I'm a Firefox pusher, and install it on every machine I touch; but my enthusiasm has been greatly cooling off over the last year or so.
I wasn't an Obama supporter, but I had the impression he was very intelligent, and I certainly like the idea of getting some relatively fresh faces into leadership positions. It's getting harder to keep an open mind about his performance, though, because I disagree with nearly every decision he's made since coming into office.
At this point, I'd prefer that he was more amoral, pragmatic, and poll-driven like Bill Clinton.
I think the big difference is that the GOP is very, very evil, and doesn't even try to hide it.
No... you're just very, very caught up in the deception fed by democratic PR. Lots of people are, and it's not unique to the left; many republicans are caught up in their lies, too.
Of all the beliefs that one needs to be skeptical of, the "my team is better than them" is one of the most pernicious. Sometime it's true, but it is so emotionally and psychologically appealing that it is often embraced, uncritically, as truth.
Cite? I think claiming it's a "choice" is a bit simplistic, but I've also never seen any strong evidence it's genetic. If you can point me toward some, I'd like to see it.
No; but it's a freedom when private parties do it. It's a restriction of freedom when the government does it. The two are related, but shouldn't be equated to each other.
The strongest indicator of where a voter falls on the issue is whether he or she self-identifies as an evangelical Christian. Ninety-percent of white Protestant evangelicals oppose gay marriage, compared with 48 percent of non-evangelical white Protestants. Seventy-two percent of evangelical white Protestants support a constitutional amendment prohibiting gay marriage, while just 33 percent of non-evangelicals back such a ban.
Catholics roughly mirror non-evangelical Protestants on the issue -- 38 percent support gay marriage while 36 percent support amending the Constitution to ban it. Not surprisingly, non-religious voters are the most favorably disposed toward both gay marriage (64 percent support) and opposed to an amendment (68 percent).
I think that the ultimate consequences of the war in Iraq may be overwhelmingly positive; the probability seems to be increasing almost every day. The people of Iraq will be well rewarded in freedom and human dignity, at the cost of going through years of danger and tempestuous struggles.
Because a majority of the population, Democrat and Republican, can't distinguish politics from sports. They feel that their team needs to be supported, and their opponents condemned, no matter the situation. It doesn't matter if your team sucks this year, or if the other team is making better picks. If your party picks a worse candidate than the other, that means you have to work harder for them to win. If your party makes mistakes, that means your denial and rationalizations need to kick into high gear. Admitting anything good about an opponent is equivalent to LOSING.
It's a big problem. Parties would be much better behaved if their was NO such unthinking loyalty.
Well, we can't leave playing god in God's hands. Nature has no particular desire to keep Earth habitable for man; that's something we need to take control of.
Yes, I think the resolution makes sense for the DSi. Especially since I think it may figure into some game mechanics in the future; the cameras mounted on every Wiimote are only 320x240, I believe. They are IR sensitive, but I believe that all digital cameras are unless specific IR filters are installed. Does anybody know what the maximum frame rate is for obtaining images from the DSi cameras? Can it capture 30+ frames a second?
She's kind of like the distilled essence of a certain type of girl that some HATE with a passion, and others LOVE with the same strength. I have a feeling she's actually a fairly clever girl with lots of deliberately affected mannerisms.
There's a clear reason it is priced higher: It was in Guitar Hero II. Both my sons and all their friends know Barracuda, and not because of their love for classic rock.
Yes, but let's not forget that Sarah Palin also thought that Africa was a country.
Perhaps you honestly thought this was true; now that you know it isn't (see the other response to your post), please don't repeat it again. That would be intellectually dishonest. The same applies to all readers.
I'm not sure of the exact scale, but they're much, much smaller, and don't have a star in the middle. So, yes. They're more like a huge space station than a ringworld.
Also, I'm a bit aghast at the condescension from the summary submitter.

"forcing developers to support aged buggy platforms still on the majority of PCs"
One final correction.

Progressive taxes are unfair, as well.

The majority, in some cases. The vast majority (90%) in self-identified evangelical Christians (which are not the majority of "Christ's followers"). Still at least two orders of magnitudes fewer than 99.99%. (http://voices.washingtonpost.com/thefix/parsing-the-polls/parsing-the-polls-gay-marriage.html)
No, your faith forced you to choose between gay marriage and being an asshole. Put the blame on the proper item.
Ah, you like pain, disease, and death.

You seem weak. I'm glad the last days of that old man were very unpleasant. He was a tyrannical despot.

Wow.
OP aside, please feature more stories about disassembled electronics. Thank you.

Stop arguing over SotC. I've seen fams fight before; it always ends with one guy climbing up another guy and sticking a knife in his ear.

So many people show thier partisan, closed mind, bias. It was not a mistake, it was deliberate.
That almost gave me whiplash. That was an abrupt and surely unintentional 180 degree reversal.
Yes, but let's not forget that Sarah Palin also thought that Africa was a country.

What, are you saying he's wrong? He's not.
Planting "extra" evidence on a guilty person to bolster your case is wrong and illegal.
That's completely correct.
