  1. Ok and .... on Google Winning By Losing? · · Score: 3, Insightful

This goes right along with the saying that "Any news is good news". As long has the Google name keeps getting spread around and people keep talking about the new things they are doing, this will drive viewers it its different pages and products.

  2. Lets get real on Pro-DRM Law May Be Coming To Australia · · Score: 1

If they were to go after people for doing these things then they would have to be going after just about everyone in the country. If you own a computer and legel dvd software, aka .. PowerDVD then you are going to have to pay out major fines. The store is going to have to pay even more for selling world wide, industry recognized, highly popular software. Oh and how are you going to put a company in jail if they are inc. This sounds like more a paper law that wont be enforced but just to show compliance.

  3. Out of Beta?!?!?! on Yahoo! Mail Beta Goes Public · · Score: 1

I just logged in to my account right before this posting and it still tells me that it is Beta. Now does this mean that I am part of some extra Beta or that this really did not go live for everyone. If it did, are other people showing that it still says Beta and if so is Yahoo adapting the idea that everything now stays in Beta for like 1 to 2 years like other companies (Google). Don't get me wrong I don't mind things staying in Beta if they work right but when you have to go to a new mail system that is slower, flash ads all over the place, and system intensive you just have to ask yourself one thing. WHY????

Better question: WHY??? ... to be honest the beta sucked big time and I am really not looking foward to logging into my mail with it always there now. I would try opening a free email account and just look at it and you will understand what I mean

  7. The differance on Google to Continue Storing Search Requests · · Score: 3, Interesting

The biggest difference is that the majority of the AOL searches were done well users were logged into AOL. Thus it will be a bit harder to trace what people search for back to themselves if they are not logged in but not impossible. Here is to hoping Google has a better lockdown policy compaired to AOL.

I will be doing everything I can to not get one of these. If I decide to give out my information, fine. If I need to make a request from a department of the gov., fine (they already can cross-ref items). I really dont see a need for this, other then to find a way to spend more money.

I have seen more problems caused by Symantec's software then I could count. I feel that if you have to run Windows then any extra layers of protection that you would need can be provided by free applications online. For example: Ad-aware, Spy-Bot, AVG Anti-Virus, ZoneAlarm, and the best firewall protection, SmoothWall.

  11. Well done on IT Crowd On-line · · Score: 3, Insightful

I think this show was and is going to be very well done. It will have to exaggerate concepts and situations for the average user. I do think that "Nerds" or "Geeks" will find that the hummer is to played out for most issues but we are a select group of people and not the main audience target.

I work in IT doing support for an Internet provider and I am willing to bet that they are going highlight most issues that I deal with on a daily basis. Granted, they are never that extreme but who cares. This may even show the average user that they need to relax before calling in. I think that capturing what the IT world does on film will be very hard but it looks like this show is on its way to doing just that.

I have never been a republican or have believed in their standings. I do know that when W. went for re-election that he campained on small business when ever he was asked about jobs. I know that was a dark day in US history when he came back for round two but still. They only way I can see to stoping this is getting the mass public to boycot the Telcos but that will never happen. It will be interresting how this all finishes playing out.

  14. Not a good thing on FCC Reclassifies DSL, Drops Common Carrier Rules · · Score: 5, Interesting

This is going to only going to create local monopoly providers. I work for a small, state of michigan only internet provider. That has been around for 8 years. We have started servicing DSL and it is exploding.

People are coming to us because they dont have to call flippin India to get tech support and they know we are a locally owned family company. We can provide DSL for $20 a month for a year contract and after you add the taxes and charges of SBC you are at that or over it.

It is times like this why I shake my head and ask why the rebulican party wants to kill local businesses, seeing that is what they say they stand for.

This way your system will keep running. Oh wait you are using a Windows box anyway, nvm it will just die anyway.
