  1. Euphamism on Justice Dept. Defends Microsoft Against Google · · Score: 1, Redundant

Google saying we want it for the search to be able to be disabled is b/s. I hate it when programs do this to my files, I install VLC because it plays everything, but I only want to use it for my files that wmp can't play, I skip through the installation like anyone else and before I know it all my files are opening in the wrong bloody application and i have to go and change all my settings in a menu in a menu in a menu, which most users would not find.

The same thing will blatantly happen here, google will install this crap, you click through the install like usual and your windows search is gone. I DONT WANT YOU DECIDING TO STOP OTHER PROGRAMS RUNNING ON MY MACHINE. Software companies never understand this, they just walk into your system and shut down competing system like they have sort of right, bullshit. Windows doesn't let desktop search shut down, and good for them, its not like they are disabling other search engines, they just make sure you always have their software waiting for you. Google is getting more evil by the day and I'll have no part of it. The only way I would support this, is if you can disable the search engine in the control panel, not let programs disable, let YOU PHYSICALLY GO THERE AND CHOOSE TO DISABLE IT IF YOU ARE BOTHERED.

Google will keep pushing untill it gets the reputation of microsoft, will do a little good and people will embrace them because we want to like them, well I'm not gonna use any of their desktop/search bar/downloadable software at all.

  4. Wrong Target on Microsoft Aims to Boost the 360's Family Appeal · · Score: 2, Interesting

Look, they say family market, which means they're targetting the quite concentrated range of 6-60 year olds.If you target the parents and the kids at the same time you aren't going to please them both, and at best if you do please them both they'll buy one for the house and probably share it. However, only target kids, or only target adults, much easier to please your target market, but at the same time, the same amount of people end up with xboxs in their homes. Why is common sense a quality completely lost in corporations.

  6. Nothing New on Moore's Law for Motherboards · · Score: 1

Yes, this is the first to not be exclusive to a device. But what does this guy think runs his ipod? Phone? PDA? Despite popular opinion, its not magic, there are motherboards in these machines.

  7. Re:How Big? Do the math on How Big Will the iPhone Become? · · Score: 1

Yes, meanwhile the dozen current multibillion dollar phone companies that DO have compatibility with networks which are better and wrok everywhere just close down? Look at google, amazing search engine, not the market leader in almost anything else (unless they bought a company like youtube which was already market leader) Look at apple, good ipod, amazingly successful (personally i think disproportionately so), their computer business? Niche. How long will it take before people stop assuming that because a company has done well in one market that it will be any good in another market. This is exacerbated by the fact the ipod came first, the market came second, the reason they became popular is because no one wanted a hard disk player before. The iPhone market? Already absolutely full off competition, completely packed, apple cannot use the strategy that bought them success in the music player market (and to some degree the computer market for a while)

  8. MPA win anyway on Guitartabs.com Suspends Under Legal Pressure · · Score: 2, Insightful

Certainly I think it is important to raise the issue of this bullying, and misuse of the law. However, this is certainly not the first example of them doing this, surely it is in the tablature websites' interests to create their own not-for-profit organisation to defend themselves. Anyway, As far as I can see, the huge amount of time the lawsuits take, and assuming the site takes down the offending material during it, the MPA has won anyway, no income for years, loss of all their users, and possible loss of the lawsuit means the site is in big trouble no matter what.

  9. Will this backfire for Jobs? on Warner Rejects Jobs' DRM Position · · Score: 2, Interesting

This clearly will gain Jobs friends in the public domain, everyone dislikes the strict DRM apple has to some extent. But music companies have long memories, and Steve Jobs has effectively bought some publicity and goodwill from the public by making the music companies look like bad guys- This, they will not like. Long after the public applause has died these music companies will know plainly that Jobs bought credit at their cost.

  10. Re:You know, this is really funny on Warner Rejects Jobs' DRM Position · · Score: 1

If that were true then why are all the music on Itunes DRM protected. Itunes certainly has the capability of selling DRM music when needed and DRM-free the rest of the time, and I'm sure those DRM-free music companies at the moment would happily move to Itunes.
