But really, I've been using the same main email address for 12+ years now and in the first couple of years I did sometimes send the opt-out replies but mostly gave up because I just couldn't be bothered as the SPAM levels were so low, I do recall one time being Joe-jobbed and that was a bitch as I got more bounce messages in a day than SPAMs in a month and some of the emails were from real people simply emailing "opt out".
Nowadays my ISP uses Brightmail for spam filtering so I don't see most of it and the ones that get through are 'Mailwashed' before they have a chance of getting to my email app.
This topic does take me back though, anyone remember the early days of email and the myth of getting a computer virus simply by opening an email? Never happened on my Amiga, but Microsoft turned that myth into reality with Outlook and everyone has been plaged with virus in emails ever since...
The right music can really get my grey cells lighting up like a christmas tree, most notably the weekly two hour radio show from Armin Van Buuren which just had it's 400th episode; A State of Trance
I'm in the process of making a bike light setup with 300 3mm LEDs for the front light, each LED will have just 1mm gap between them so it'll be about 80x60mm and will use about 24watts (2A @12v), controlled by a PICAXE with several switches for various brightnesses/flashing mode & highbeam - and I just got trumped by that thing!
But hey at least 1000 3mm LEDs only cost £30 whilst that LED array cost £240+.

"What was that Flipper? Timmy's trapped on a raft and floating out to sea?"
"But what's that got to do with my bank balance?"
From what I gather, the 'laugh tracks' on Red Dwarf are actual audience reactions to watching the show either live or pre-recorded.
The series 7 DVDs have two versions of the episodes, original aired episodes with laughter from an audience watching screenings and extended versions without audience laughter.
Personally I hate generic laughter tracks where the editor just presses the "laughter" button when they think something funny was said/happened, but I do kinda like laughter in the background from unprompted audiences watching the actual show - like "Lucky Louie" for example.
Earlier this year when YouTube started silencing user posted videos in response to WB, someone posted this link which did a search for silenced YouTube videos.
Right now there are over 22,000 search results, the highest I've seen it was 300,000+ search results, meaning overall YouTube appear to have silenced over well over 1/3 million videos (and probably then removed most of them).
After that we'll just have to revert to empathic testing.
The tortoise lays on its back, its belly baking in the hot sun, beating its legs trying to turn itself over but it can't. Not without your help. But you're not helping.
Can you point to an example of a computer 'undoing' an autostereogram image? That's something I'd like to see, how well it reconstructs the original base image.
Back when they were all the rage I wrote a program on my Amiga to create them, took bloody ages to work out how to do it, finally figured out that the pattern is contracted/expanded depending on the brightness of the base image and that the contraction/expansion of the pattern is accumulative.
One of the recent (past year) episodes they tackled some of the viral video myths, one of the videos showed a massive fireball explosion using 'harmless' powder, which they repeated using a large tub of non-dairy creamer with a flare stuck in the top as an ignition and very quickly pumped a large amount of air into the base of the tub to propel the poweder into the air.
It resulted in an amazingly large fireball explosion and they didn't call in any expert help, presumably because they weren't using any conventional substances for explosive purposes.
Yeah, for the really big explosions, like the cement truck for example, they call in external help from professionals who are supposed to know what they're doing.
What do you mean you don't know about the Yahoo Serious Festival?
Each year, thousands of pilgrims make their way down to Australia to hold a festival celebrating the film works of Yahoo Serious, huge frizzy wigs are a must, and dressing as your favourite character is ecouraged. You wouldn't believe how many people turn up as Einstein.
And anyone who can demonstrate the splitting of a beer atom wins 5 kegs of beer.
The most entertaining way of seeing this in action is watching Simon Cowell telling the utterly terrible American X-Factor contestants just how much they suck.
But one of the major points of using hibernation & standby is that you don't have to re-start the apps you use most, for example browsers that remember the tabs you last had open are nice but if you have a dozen or so tabs open it can take a while for the pages to all reload when maybe you only want to refresh one or two.
sunglasses? what for? you can't tell me that slashdotians actually go out in the sun.
They want your innocence back.

the problem is coming up with something worth using it for.
Google StreetView 3D.
Or as it will probably (hopefully) be eventually known as: Grand Theft Auto: Streets of Google

A "white hole"?

P.S. Would anyone like any toast?
Idly skimming through the search results and clicking on links I found several that YouTube reported had been removed due to rights violations.

I'm almost shocked nobody has registered omgpon.ie

How long before someone creates an autostereogram captcha?

Proof that Europe sucks and anyone of intelligence should move to the US.
Do they still charge to receive texts in America?
Mythbusters? pfff, everyone knows Smash Lab is where the real science is at!

Just use a frickin laser
There, fixed that for you.
It's hot in here; must be summer.
