  1. Re:Thunderbird... buggiest thing on earth on Mozilla 1.7 Beta Is Faster And Smaller · · Score: 4, Funny

I use Firefox and Thunderbird for all my stuff, but I definitely agree that TB has a way to go. The biggest problem that I've noticed is that occasionally it will just start acting slow, and I have to close it and start it up again.

That said, I love Firefox, and if I'm forced to use IE (say, on someone else's computer), I feel like killing people (its designers, mainly). Is that what they mean by "killer app"?

Good. Because if I coughed up a (large in Australia, obscene in the US) pile of cash to go to UNI, and they teach me something like MODULA-2 that will never help me get a job, I'd be pissed.

If you're going to college (or "university") to learn job skills, then that definitely is a waste of your money, and you should be pissed.

If you want to work on "job skills", then this might be what you're looking for.

I've received great enjoyment from just browsing the Wikipedia articles. I've never just "donated" to a website before (though I've bought paid services at a couple, for example LiveJournal), but Wikipedia is an excellent project, and I felt it deserved a couple bucks. I'm poor as shit at the moment, so I couldn't spare much, but, as the submission says, I don't really need that candy bar. :)

Actually, livejournal allows you to post audio files via a phone call to your journal, and they save all audio as Oggs. So when I said "no one outside of Slashdot", I suppose I was exagerating. :)

Me, I love my iPod, but if I could have it play another format I'd choose Shorten (SHN). That's about the only audio format I use other than MP3 (and the AACs from the iTunes store).

Said as someone like that.. running Win XP, but using Firebird & Thunderbird, Openoffice, Winamp, GAIM... basically nothing MS except the OS itself. XP itself's not so bad (wouldn't use it as a server, but that's what FreeBSD is for), but I am physically pained when I have to use IE, I gave up MS Office whenever possible a couple years ago in protest of it sucking, and I prefer my email without viruses. Some versions of Media Player are okay, I just like other stuff better usually.
