$250k net worth isn't all that much, really. yes, at 26, maybe you sure as hell don't, but by the time you're in your late 30s to 40s you probably will, what with a house and retirement accounts and so on.

however, statistically, people posting to slashdot are likely to be in their 20s, i'd bet, so your assertion is probably right anyway. :)

Anyways, whatever that mold was, it was badass. I first discovered it because some had dropped off the blinds and set up shop on the metal windowsill behind a pile of boxes that blocked my view of the windowsill for a whole winter. When I found it a few months later, the mold had etched marks into stainless steel. Not only was it badass mold, but weird mold. It ate metal (and presumably dust/skin flakes and other spores) all winter long, but it left the huge pile of yummy cellulose cardboard (the boxes) untouched.

Hopefully you kept a sample of that around.. we might need it when the machines try to take over.

  9. Re:Here is why I buy CD's on Shifting From P2P To Stream Ripping · · Score: 3, Insightful

Unless you're in Canada or somewhere where they don't have real money, CDs are *not* $20. Try $7-$10. $14 at the most, for brand new releases. So your so-called "REALLY conservative" estimate, $15, is close, if you only buy the new releases from major label bands at a Best Buy or something, and are unfortunate enough to live somewhere with sales tax.

Also, plenty of students have a lot of spending money. It's called "not being a lazy ass" or "having a job". $7500 over several years isn't that much, if music is what you enjoy and spend money on. Hell, students at my old school probably spent that much just on weed over the four years... well, the ones who smoked weed were there for longer, but you get the point.

Basically, you're another example for the need for a (-1, Stupid) moderation choice.

Money isn't even remotely the reason "800 million go to bed hungry each night". It's all politics. There's plenty of food to go around, but third world dictators keep everything to themselves, and let their people starve.

And maybe you're not aware of this, but the world is not like Civilization, where you can just move a little slider and redirect money to something else.

Or maybe you mean that with $1 trillion you could bribe enough foreign leaders to stop turning their countries into hellholes? Or maybe "get rid" of some of them? Of course, you'd probably protest that too. //Fine, mod me down, but will you be able to sleep at night?//

Let me think about that for a second. Why, yes, I think I will be able to sleep fine.
