    So lets sum up here.

This kwaak3, something that runs on most android phones, works, is a game, something you can download right now...

That's less impressive then a youtube video of a game that, doesn't work on the iPhone 2G, 3G or ipod touches, doesn't have networking, etc ...

Why do I get the feeling you're shitting on this simply because it's not related to the iPhone?

My understanding is that it is extremely expensive to collect this data and that instead of collecting their own data many scientists reference the results from the paper that has been falsified. Since it's expensive to collect this data no one wants to share it. Perhaps it's because they don't want to get caught falsifying it too, who knows since no one can check.

So yes, any papers that base all their work from the original findings are irrelevant. I feel bad for the scientists who were duped by this and wasted time doing further research on it.

That's exactly what happens. The patch is sent to in most cases a mailing list. People give feedback on the patch and it's rejected. The patch is reworked based on the feed back and then resubmitted.

What this guy is talking about is how static analysis finds more bugs then eye balls. Big deal, it takes just one guy to do that and attach a patch to correct them in an open source project and this happens often. People use programs such as valgrind to fix small memory leaks all the time.

The article fails to mention anything above security flaws. What about non-security flaws which static analysis can't pick up such as a dialog box popping up at the wrong time or a spelling mistake? Static analysis isn't the silver bullet that this salesman is trying to push on us. Yes, it should be included in the process of patch review however reviewing every change going into the repo is always going to beat proprietary methods of committing junk that barely runs and then just running a tool to find the places you screwed up.

  23. Their sales model is all wrong on Game Industry Vets On DRM · · Score: 1

Game publishers are simply greedy. Rental Model or Sales model pick one.

You want DRM, the right to restrict your customers from reselling their games, then pick a rental model where your customer pays X amount per time unit Y.

You want to make +$60 per game sale off your customers then get rid of the DRM and don't try to prevent your customers from reselling their games.

Don't mix the two because it isn't working and legit customers being driven away. If game publishers came up with a fair model then more customers would go through the official channels. Instead they're trying to rip customers off by selling them something for a lot of money which they don't own.

I personally prefer the rental model and here's why:
    - Game Publishers aren't going to change and will continue this BS anyway.
    - You're not putting down $60 just to find the game sucks.
    - The more you play the game the more money they make
    - They have more incentive to make games fun rather then BS you into buying something that sucks.

This is very misleading because the "MMR vaccine causes autism" paper was released in 1998 so I very much expect that if you look at the numbers from 1998 to 2010 you'll find them to be much higher.

However it get's worse. The crazies that are convinced that the MMR jab causes autism will continue to preach their garbage for many years to come. They'll convince even more parents to not protect their children and those kids will die too.

Dr Wakefield deserves more then just being struck down in the part he played. He didn't just release a paper. He actively went around telling people not to take this vaccine on national television. It's his actions that have killed so many children of completely preventable diseases.
