I could of sworn I saw this while was at the mall last night.. on dvd none the less. I wasn't paying much attention to it though, has this been released before? or possibly a little earlier than today (ie, last week?) -neil

very very good news.. alot of time, money (a little of mine,) and hard work went into the sat. Does it strike anyone as funny that a bunch of hams can get this kind of stuff to work but nasa looses probe after probe after probe ?

this is going to be incredibly hard to do because of the age factor. I mean who wants to sit down infront of a linux box and program some code for a console based, more than likely monochrome display program when they can sit down in front of a windows machine and using visual basic design something that has colors, pictures, sounds, etc much more easily? I won't like and I'm not afraid to admit it - oh though I use Linux on a daily basis I enjoyed my beginning Visual Basic class than my beginning C(++) class.

it's so nice to see you people complaining that it's not available in the 'northeast' but keep in mind some people are still unable to get dsl or even cable... people who live in fairly large non-isolated towns, how about us?

I don't think that simply not having anything sensative on a laptop or other portable type machine is the key at all. However - beyond encryption, boot passwords, other passwords and they like, physical security of the machine is *extremely* (read: criticaly) important. Personally when ever i leave my office or residence and I'm not taking my laptop with me it gets locked up... there are too many stupid room-mates and easily fooled cleaning ladies.

what can I say.. I'm doing the EXACT same thing. Redhat has frustrated me way too much to deal with them anymore, and this gcc stuff is the end of it. Anyone know where I can get debian iso's at (I crawled around in ftps for like 20 minutes and still can't find anything.)

damnit, I wish you guys would of said something earlier - I could of actually made it over there to seeone of you guys talk. I mean how often do such famous members of the geek community come near me, oh yeah I'm at MIT - never mind.

no matter how you look at it msie and it's integration into windows is clearly a threat to netscape. however, it clearly poses more of a threat if it is not distributed with out windows. i guess the true question here is, why can't mircosoft simply put out a good clean tested browser.
.. but it was still funny =)) I didn't meet my current girlfriend on the internet, but rather introduced her to it. Now she owns 3 boxe's including a sparc (and I might i mention, none of them run windows) and is a bigger nerd than i am. I think the point is, if you're in love it doesn't matter how you got there; but rahter that you're there..
