I am in partial agreement: The browser venders should be implementing HOOKS to the operating system's native multimedia libraries. In Windows, Internet Explorer, Firefox, Safari, Chrome and Opera should all be hooking into DirectShow, QuickTime if installed, ffmpeg if installed, VLC's libraries, if VLC is installed.

In Linux distributions, Firefox, etc should all hook into FFmpeg, Gstreamer, etc.
On MacOS X, Safari (etc) should hook into QuickTime.

They should be acting more like any other media player: Implement the native multimedia API, rather than 'create' your own. This way all browser should be able to support as many codecs as the operating system can support.

Not true! Good trolls have the potential to provide a very humorous outlook on life. Whenever I see a troll, I laugh at their sad state of affairs and speculate as to what misfortunes may have provoked them into becoming such insensitive clods. I say, we need to unite our fellow trolls and empower them into an organisation. They should be able to vote on various agendas and have civil protests to show what they do and do not like about society. Without trolls, life would be boring.

I'm assuming that the simulation can then be used to add distortions. Say, water trickling down a creek, and ducks splashing. The two sounds would be distorted by both the direction they are coming from and the interaction of the two sounds. The idea would be to make the sounds more realistic without having to record every possible case.

Mind you, I haven't yet read the article (or summary) and I am not a sound engineer of any sort.
