Every time Nintendo launches a new system, there's the same chorus: "It will fail miserably!" And every time, it's wrong - sometimes drastically so.
For me the most interesting aspect of this is the smooth transition between mobile and traditional-console gaming experiences. Continuing a console game on the go smoothly and vice-versa is something I've always wanted to be able to do without fiddling around copying save files at best, and without a big fat "nope" at worst. I suspect I'm not alone. I think they're making the right bet here. It's interesting that this aspect is completely unmentioned in the comments so far.
Here's a note for what it's worth.
I didn't read your post -- which I probably would otherwise have read, as it seems pithy enough -- because I couldn't be bothered to wade through the uncapitalized sentences. You might consider it a missed opportunity for someone to appreciate your thoughts. You also might not, up to you.:-)
> [..] Too much more STUPIDITY like trying to revive "network computing" Micro$oft's current regime may just be BOOTED and WINDOWS and OFFICE and may just wind up under GPLv3 or a similar license.
How do you explain Wayne Newton's POWER over millions? It's th' MOUSTACHE... Have you ever noticed th' way it radiates SINCERITY, HONESTY & WARMTH? It's a MOUSTACHE you want to take HOME and introduce to NANCY SINATRA!

Orthogonal terwilliger accordion!
This is as much "insightful" as "funny."

Where are my mod points when I need them? This deserves more than a "3".
What a very strange spambot-like human -- or human-like spambot? -- akasch is.
(This is not the first akasch post to spam a link.)

You've responded with tremendous grace to a wave of somewhat impolite and insinuating comments. Kudos! yetanotherforgottenlogin

I find it amusing that the ALT text for the Star Wars tag used here reads "Star Wars Prequels." e.
