  1. Omnifocus! on What Does Everyone Use For Task/Project Tracking? · · Score: 2, Insightful

Works fantastically well, but for Mac only. So chances are it won't work for you. It does everything you ask for anyway.

  2. Re:Question from a .NET developer trying to go OSS on PHP Security Expert Resigns · · Score: 1

That depends (of course). Ruby on Rails is very nice, but the Ruby language is very different from C#. PHP is much more similar.
If you decide to go with PHP, have a look at the Symfony project. It's a well-documented rails-like framework for PHP, it really promotes better coding practices.

I used to use spotlight to launch apps before I found quicksilver, which does it much better + have hundreds of other nice features (like global hotkeys, clipboard history etc). Try it! You'll like it...(it's free!)

  4. Re:PHP is horrible inconsistent on PHP Hacks · · Score: 2, Informative

I'm not trying to defend the inconsistencies in PHP (you are right there), but if you feel you need to look at the manual all the time you need to use a better tool. Zend studio, for example, autocompletes function names and also tells you in which order to put the arguments. This is a huge timesaver if you're using PHP.

  5. Re:Entitlements on Apple Holding Back the Music Business? · · Score: 1

Exactly. This is, I belive, the main reason for them to put DRM on CDs. They know that the DRM-schemes they use for CDs won't stop the people who upload mp3s to the pirate networks. It will however stop people from just ripping the tracks from the CDs they've bought to put in their iPods. It's funny how they always mention copy restricted CDs in the same breath as internet piracy, even though it's not clear how the two are related.

  6. You can be sure of one thing on Sony Repents Over CD Debacle · · Score: 1

You can be sure that any decrease in cd-sales due to this whole debacle is going to be blamed on piracy. They are not likely to say that "cd-sales decreased by X %, but that's mostly a reaction against our decision to use drm software".

  7. Re:Consumer laptop on New iBooks 'Any Day Now' · · Score: 1

The differences between the iBook and PowerBook lines are much bigger than just a question of dual display capability. PowerBooks have faster CPU, faster hard drive, better quality case etc...

Also, the price difference between a 12" iBook and 12" PowerBook is $500, not $600.

  8. Re:Lot of work coming from that direction on Mozilla Releases Mozilla Sunbird 0.2 · · Score: 1

    It's already here: Robin

  9. BeOS on Bootable Game CDROMs Using Linux · · Score: 1

Well, I can't see why anyone would want to use Linux just to play games, since the graphics are slower than Windows. BeOS otoh would be v cool (whenever the new opengl comes out of beta).
