now it's reality cooking (ace of cakes/dinner impossible/restaurant impossible/throwdown/etc) mixed with "showcase random restaurants" programming (Diners Drive-ins and dives/the best thing i ever/etc) with a few shows still teaching real cooking(Good Eats), and not how to pour stuff out of a box/can/jar into a pan and call it cooking.

That's also why there is now a new channel called "The Cooking Channel".

Option 2: Develop free version that is Ad supported utilizing Apples iAd service. Every use of app makes money for both developer and Apple.
Option 3: Offer free version of App that has ability to purchase "stuff" in App. This is allowed within the context of Apples agreement and again, both developer and Apple will make money off of this. The Kindle, Sony Reader, and other eReader apps are/will be an example fo this. The apps are free, purchase of the books in App will net Apple 30% of the purchase price.

Rather than have to scrutinize each app that would contain Open Source code to determine which License is being used or rely on notoriously unreliable developers to follow rules on which OS licenses were acceptable, and thus open themselves to lawsuits/etc, they took the step of saying "not in our store" to prevent future legal problems.

yes, the person who spends $40k a year and pays an average of X% of sales tax (based on exempt and non-exempt items purchased) will pay more than the person who spends $100k a year and most likely has a a higher average tax rate because they purchase MORE of the non-exempt items (you know, more luxury items and fewer food items per dollar spent).
    Oh wait.

sales tax is a set percentage.
every one pays the same percentage on non-exempt items.
if you want to argue that "poor people" spend a larger percentage of their total income than "rich people" then you may have a point (depending on your definition of rich).

Personally, I would wonder how Amazon is supposed to forward the sales tax amount to the state since they did not collect it in the first place?
So in reality, I have no sympathy for the State of Texas as they are trying to retroactively collect taxes that were never collected in the first place.
If they need the money, they need to start on a date and allow Amazon to charge the tax to customers as necessary so it can be collected and then forwarded.

except that again, people want to look only at overall country-wide population density, which is a poor metric for a case like broadband.
instead they should be looking at the distribution of people and the population density within that distribution area.

if i have a 100 square mile country, with 100 people in it, overall population density says that i have 1 person per square mile.
reality might be very different if instead i see that all 100 of those people live within the same 1 square mile and the other 99 square miles of the country are completely empty.

this example would make it very easy to provide "uber high speed" network access to those 100 people and yet look like the country has really low population density when placed on one of those nifty "comparison" charts.
And then there would be people using my little fake country to "prove" that the US is "far behind" the rest of the world in broadband adoption and speed.

it would all be bullshit, but people would spew idiocy like they do now anyway.

you can easily move very large ships from ocean to ocean via a piggyback ship.

in fact, there are ships designed for this very purpose, and moving a large sailing yacht is one of their main customers.

these specialized ships take on ballast and essentially purposefully flood their own decks and then the large sailing/motor yachts are driven over the deck, pilings are set to support them, and the ship pumps out the ballast to raise itself above the waterline.

    why?

because its a lot cheaper to pay for one large transport to move from continent to continent than it is a whole bunch of little ones that require not only propulsion but electrical power as well.
