Here's my impression of you: Wah! I may have to do my job and support people who need assistance! Wah! I don't think they should do anything new so I won't have to learn anything new! Wah! I liked my job better when I had everyone convinced I knew everything and had it so down pat I didn't have to do anything! Wah!
How great is it going to be to be able to develop for a tablet without having to jump through the twin hoops of archaic programming language and abysmally poor development environment?! Huzzah for us programmers! A new era is upon us!
I wonder if anyone at Microsoft consulted the airlines or their insurance providers about carrying thin sheets of magnesium onto planes. That's the stuff used to make incendiary grenades able to burn through tank armor (at least when I was in the 1950's Army). When camping you can carry a little bar of magnesium with you so you can scrape off a bit to add to your wet tinder for starting a fire.
1) What are you going to scrape it with?
2) Setting the solid piece is nigh impossible without an anti-tank weapon (believe me, when I was a Boy Scout, I tried to set the whole block on fire many many times.)
Ok, I stand corrected. They did very very little. Their answer to iPhone was the next generation PalmPilot, only less user friendly and more buggy. They'd have been better off if they did nothing.
The N800 isn't a phone. Trust me, I have two of them. And even if it were, it's no where near the polished functionality of iPhone or even Android. Maemo was hardly a try. They stuck a new window manager on Linux and tried to call it a mobile OS.
It's not laziness so much as lack of training. You can spend money training people to cook, which might not work (if the people you hire are sub-par) or you can buy prepared food in cans and barrels that any moron can spoon onto a tray. If you're managing food service for a large school district with high turnover (because people don't want to pay for teachers, let alone lunch ladies) what are you going to do?
Why would hte government bother with moles when it can just read the Microsoft engineers minds from it's spy satellites. It's common sense that they'd be doing this.
Nokia did the exact same thing that RIM did: Nothing. Apple showed up with IOS and Google showed up with Android, and Nokia told everyone how great Symbian still is. The good thing is that Nokia was able to make the leap to Windows Phone 7. RIM still hasn't figured out that no one's interested in Blackberry any more.
But a 1x CD-ROM is 150KiB/s. A 2x CD-ROM is 300KiB/s. A 72x CD-ROM is 10,800KiB/s. The difference between a 20x and a 36x CD-ROM is probably not going to matter to most people, but it is an accurate descriptor for the difference in the two drives.
There was a study that there are about 4% of the population that are true multi-taskers. The tests were done regarding cell phone talking and driving. I do believe that a small group can do more than one task at a time, such as typing this message and holding a conversation.
Good thing you remembered this nameless study, otherwise you'd have lost this argument! Phew!
The problem is the that the ITU standard for 4G was based solely on network speed, and not network technology. I don't blame Verizon for calling its LTE network 4G (because it is). I blame the butthurt marketing dickbags at AT&T for re-marketing their crappy 3G network as 4G instead of investing in an authentic 4G network.
Pure Apple-fan drivel. There's nothing keeping Apple from recognizing revenue over the expected lifetime of its products. The only thing driving this anti-customer behavior is that they know that they can get away with it and their fanbase is willing to put up with this abuse. SOX just gave Jobs the excuse he needed to fleece his loathesome flock the way he wanted to all along.
The annoying thing about the Best Buy in Tualatin is that they don't stock very much Apple stuff. The one at Washington Square does. One of the Best Buy people told me it's because that mini-mall is managed by the same management organization as Bridgeport Mall, and it's treated as the same complex, so Apple won't let them stock everything the way the other stores can.
Objective-C is horrible. I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemies. It hasn't gone off the rails? It's never been on the rails to go off of to begin with! It's a series of kludges tacked on to a terrible core.
The pines is where the gold's at!

Like Debian island, where all the computers are free, but none of them work quite right.

It's fascinating to see this poor reasoning played out on this very forum right now, right before our very eyes.
I saw Prometheus in 3D at the Roseway Theater in Portland for $9 opening night.
I think he means the half of him that is below the top half.

Yep, dummy.

Wi-Max is a 4G technology. Nothing wrong with them marketing it as such.
Sorry, I was busy frantically trying to verify all the other wholly unsubstantiated claims on the Internet to get to yours. My bad, dog.

Why should you have to open an application to get the utility you want from your device? Seems like a rather arbitrary distinction to me.

Which one is the "daddy" and which is the "babysitter"? Is there one with the Microsoft logo watching...chainsaw in hand?
You have a very peculiar idea of what "making out" means. Please stay away from me.

For instance: memory management. End of argument.
Yeah, because the US couldn't just ask the UK to extradite him. Makes perfect sense.
