The reason why people are shopping online is not because they don't have to pay the tax. Even if they did they can still get it cheaper accounting for postage/shipping by shopping online. The tax we are talking about is 10% yet many products you can get for 50% of the Australian price. It seems most retailers in Australia think the exchange rate for AUD/USD is 0.6 (currently at parity).
This isn't just bricks and mortar either: Microsoft Visual Studio Ultimate with MSDN: AU$20,775.00 or US$11,899

Actually for some people there are reasons to move beyond 64 bits besides address space. There are a lot of processors that are used in DSP that work on >64 bit intergers. However for a general purpose machine proccessing of large intergers is probably better off in specialised units like altivec. As a side note current 64 bit processors only actually can access about 40-45 bits of address space since all those extra pins cost money and are unlikely to be used.
How does this passive device mesaure the current with out affecting it? 1) Is is magical, no it creates a samll load on the circuit 2) this can change the pwoer factor 3) the motor could be an induction motor 4) a change in power factor could change the efficiency of the motor causing it (or the wiring) to heat up more than usual.
First off, a "real" data center needs a little more than 1.5 Tons of cooling I'm pretty sure 3 (2x1.5) is considered a little more than 1.5 but perhaps I'm not using "real" math.
I think the opposite is true they should patent so that all of the citezens can use the patented tech for free. Charge the other countries companies after all we the people paid for it.
How does your current documentation exist in source form? Do you only have the Hard copy or do you have the source of what they used to build the hard copy? If the source is LaTeX then it shouldn't be hard to convert it to PDF, HTML or whatever darn format you want.
However somw contracts ahve a complete and unmodified clause, which means that if the contract is modified it is invalidated. i.e. they must change the printed copy to make changes to the contract. If you struck this clause out as well however...
For a password, hopefully your system would lock the account long before there are that many failed login attempts. However, if your attacker has that kind of resources, you can assume it is feasable for them to find a hash collision. That's really only significant for governments, multi-national organizations, and other major enterprises, but not for most people.
That is not how it works. THey are using the birthday paradox, that is why brute force is 2^80 not 2^160. Put simple the birthday paradox finds two pieces of data with the same hash. It does NOT (as so many posts believe) allow you to find a matching hash to a fixed piece of data. (This would take 2^160, perhaps less with the weaknesses discovered but not close to 2^69). Hence this does not allow you to break passwords.
The reason that upload speed is slower is because the technology required to send bits is much more expensive than the technology to decode bits. Hence they use a cheaper but slower sender at the users end to keep the price of ADSL modems low (it is in the standard). The designers considered what the technology would be used for and decided on this compromise of cost/speed.

Trademarks are very different from Patents.
What you describe is a Trademark infringement.

This is wrong. Any plugins that are loaded by a GPL program must be GPL.u gins

Unlikely but it could make a difference.
Basically they retain copyright still but are giving a copy away.
If everyone does that, you've got the best intelligent surveillance network in the world. The general public.
I love sarcasm
Since were all making up analogys how about:
Man finds $10 ground picks it up someone see this call cops and the man is arrested.
Covers all the bases:
Monetary loss, intentional act, easy public access, arrest ensues.
I cant see how providing patches faster would increase infection rate.
In what situation would losing the ability to accelerate cause an accident on a highway? It sounds like a simple breakdown to me.
If your not thinking straight because you are in an emergency perhaps you have more reason to stay under the speed limit.
Address books are the work of the devil. You and your new fangled bloating features.
Bieng a monopoly is not the issue. Abusing your position as the dominant player is.
So to summerise since most slashdot readers are idiots.
Monopoly: OK.
Monopoly abusing power: BAD.

This is probably the best as it hits the RAM hard too.
Perhaps his proof was flawed and he realised it so he ripped the last page out?

Problem is if it is worth a lot then you would have to pay gift tax twice.
So you rarely read an entire Slashdot comment?

Cancel thier account and charge a disconnect fee I suspect.
