Not just private money. Some money was pumped into schools that should shutdown because of population shifts. Now we have thirty or so schools in the district that are less than half full and a bunch of money pumped in them for technology upgrades. Now they are just pissing money down the drain and will continue for years to come. The money wasted on these schools far exceeds the money that they were given by the Gates foundation.

The shift of demographics may not be on the side of office. More and more computer users are becoming more open to alternatives. I think we are close to having a good alternative for average users when it comes to an Office type suite. On the other hand we are a bit off when it comes to the complexity of some business users. Now if you add in security concerns and the no internet connection no production problem, it becomes hard for a business to switch to that environment. The better choice for a business is a self hosted web based solution. That will eliminate OS dependence for most companies as long as the browser technology is there.

Two different things. One is a service that Best Buy/Geek Squad has determined the price for. The other is a product by Valusoft that probably suggests a price of about $20. You can argue that one can get it for free, but what about no internet connection or dial-up only. $20 is a deal over praying for a good iso over a 56k modem. I will assume that the Xbox doesn't work with dial-up, so the question is is $30 worth it.

They had no reason to come out with a faster cpu. Without AMD we probably would be waiting for P3 500s to come out. I don't play many games on my computer or do anything with 3D modeling, so I can deal with the on-board or a low end GPU. This make AMD an attractive CPU-GPU bundle.

Let us talk dept for a moment. Dems say we can't mess with any welfare program such as social security, medacaid, or medacare. They want to give free healthcare to everyone. How do we pay for this and add more? We can't afford what we are doing. We are discouraging people to work. I won't be able to afford my house when I am paying 60% or more in income tax alone. Remember the government can't give you anything. The government doesn't have a job. It can only take and redistribute. If it goes after business for the money the cost gets passed to the consumer, and once again you take it. The answer to debt is simple - Stop spending money. Thomas Paine said that the duty of a patriot is to protect his country from his government. I am willing to vote for someone that will not take everything that I have and give it to some lazy ass, some business, or some other country. I should choose which lazy ass, business, or country to give my money to. If a charitable cause is that important to you give to a charity that helps them or start one for yourself. FYI Vietnam was on LBJ's watch.

After that I will take Romney as President. The other two are Democrats, just like Bush. You can't spend my money like it is going out of style and call yourself a Republican. I swear after this we just need to re-brand ourselves as classical liberals and look at the theories of Milton Friedman, Thomas Paine, Thomas Jefferson, and others for the guidance of our party. The best way for the federal government to handle an issue is not get involved. Let the states decide and stop subsidizing everything. I have the hardest time twice a month knowing that my tax dollars are going to something I am at moral odds with. This lets a Peta member not pay for the meat industry, pro-life people not pay for abortions, and people that hate art not pay for an artist to create junk he can't sale.
