Hello there. Maybe you could check out this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s1RsvEm7UrU
The submitter made another one prior to this (in 2009). It makes interesting points on why someone would want to use amigaOS in these modern times.
I just simply want to know- why- and for what motivation there is for "yet another OS".
It's not yet another OS that is being thrown out there just now. OS4 has been out for several years and people like it. It is clearly still an OS for hobbyists though.
For my geek nostalgia fix I fire up my Amiga 500 or 1200. The sound of those floppy drives just gives me shivers: I'm instantly 12 again. I also constantly try to find BBSes that are still active, but it's just not the same these days. Using them used to feel like straight from a cyberpunk novel... What's also pretty cool (for me): Digger, my first ever computer game. While playing it I feel like 10 on my dad's 8086 IBM clone.
The only problem with my old computers is the famous WAF. My Lady doesn't appreciate those old gray 'things' around.
But you forget (or do not realize) that Star Trek is a sort of mirror of society. Of course we have no intergalactic space ships and transporters/beamers, but the problems they deal with are real. You can look at almost any series/episode and discover hints towards problems we have in todays world (if you allow yourself to think about it for a second).
It also depicts something we as humans should long for: peace amongst each other and the smart use of technology to make life better.
Star Trek also teaches us that there are other values in life to strive for than just "earn.. much.. money".
Caught in the rat race much?
When 3d scanners become mainstream we will face huge problems if we don't work out where the limit to suing people blind for a copy is.
Regarding TFA, there is no denying that piracy reduces sales (if you stick to the conventional model of "I produce then sell"). However, if you come up with a method to provide your customers with a special service (that is essential to enjoying the game) you might start noticing a change...
nothing new I'm saying I know, but I felt like posting today...
I think it is the coolest time travelling film ever (I&II)...
except Kirk's 17 temporal violations which... were... probably... also.....pretty... cool..
Oh, and nice Keyboard. The idea isn't that bad, longer battery life and I would buy one... (if it's around 350$)
sry, OT. In Germany you can only ride your bicycle on the sidewalk if you are under the age of 8. You are endangering pedestrians if you use the sidewalk for cycling.
The ship looks way too modern to be anything like something which is actually meant to be *older* technology than what we saw in the 60s.
Yes, that was what I thought when I watched the "Enterprise" series.
The casting is also terrible; the actors don't look anything like the originals at all.
Star Trek is dead. It died with First Contact.
Well, I wouldn't go that far. Star Trek is NOT dead. But if you're going to make a film about a certain crew, I think you should take the same "people". If that is not possible, don't. I mean come on...!! SPOCK..?! Is that you...? Leonard Nimoy made Spock the interesting character he is, not the ears and a blue uniform... same with the rest of the crew.
Just my 2cents though..
I'm still looking forward to seeing it, anything Trek is welcome...
The key is to drive a manual transmission and to hold in the clutch whenever you can(especially downhill) so that the car coasts(runs at idle) as much as possible.
And don't engine brake because that is poor form and is retarded. Use your damn brakes.
The majority of cars where I come from have a manual transmission. And we learn here that you are not saving any gas at all by putting your foot on the clutch and coasting. While you are coasting in neutral, the engine still uses fuel to keep the motor running idle (at about 800-1000rpm). When you're going downhill (with a 'connected' clutch) the drag of the vehicle takes care of turning the motor, and the fuel-injection-system doesn't need to inject any gas at all. I've observed this on many different cars with a mileage display, and I have had many discussions shortly about this... It is something to think about while coasting downhill in neutral for miles and miles and *using your damn brakes*, as the parent suggested, all the time...
my relatives always say: I'm not worried, cause I haven't got anything to hide. I am so sick of hearing that... Let's take the curtains off the windows while were at it, and tear the fence down... I have never had my notebook searched though, maybe I don't look suspicious enough I dunno
That's odd. I read that exact same story the last time Scotty's ashes were onboard (about a year or so ago). I remember, because one of my emails were aboard, aswell. Did they only use parts of his remains the first time and now lost another part..?
I don't have time to research this right now, but I bet someone here does ("hinthint"). I just had a deja vu reading this... odd.
And I just talked to my father about this, all he said was: "It happened because Scotty was not the engineer"...
Thx 4 the streams.. I guess I'll have to stay up a little longer tonight... we're 6 hours ahead here.
Video would be nice aswell, but I'm not complaining. I do wish I was there though...
My father deleted all the games he had on his TRS-80 (Model III - I think), and I was 5 at the time, so I couldn't do anything about it.
When I was 10 I wanted an NES so badly, cause my neighbor had one, but my father said: NO! "I will buy an IBM Clone instead...". He did. It was an 8086 with 4Mhz. He showed me DOS, all I did for quite some time was: cd\games\digger.. digger.exe. (and no it was not "digdug"!!!) It was an awesome game, and had beautiful CGA colors. I still have it and play it with dosbox. so here I go: cd digger. digger. ---> TIMEWARP ---> I am 10 again. But I was better at it as a kid:-(
Don't worry, somebody has his Katra.
But they sure couldn't fill his shoes.... R.I.P.

You are about to engage in something that is the chief cause of divorce.

Internet in a suitcase? I had to immediately think of The IT-Crowd: "and this Jen...", shows her a little box , ".... is the Internet!"
Yeah, it was a real turbo! I could go from 8Mhz to 4Mhz at the push of a... wait wtf?!
Yes, exactly!
me too
Yeah, on my workbench I got stuff done!
On my desktop everything just clutters like on my real desk. Its' the future, *yay*

Clippy: It appears you want to stay the night. Would you like me to help you make your bed? ...
Titan, where the Buggalo roam...

Plus, you could get hit by space garbage

I often think about this quote and find it to be quite true...
