WTH? io9 and Koutaku went to this style layout and I stopped going there. I love the current layout of./ because I don't have to scroll endlessly to find a story. They've added an extra "screen" in the vertical layout. Badddd!
They have screwed over their reputation. They could come out tomorrow and say they are getting rid of ads, and people would still be leery of using the site.
Well, without the projects who upload to SourceForge, they wouldn't have a business in the first place. One could argue that their revenue comes from the people they're trying to screw over in the first place.
The example you gave (map location) benefits me, but collecting where I go to sell my information to advertisers.. what do I get out of it, other than more ads?
I agree. My feeling is that the main reason for the "knee-jerk" reaction is that Google already knows quite a bit about us and there is no information how they are going to use the information gathered from Glass, beyond scanning everything for targeted ad placement. Very scary!
Won't someone think of the pedophiles? I'm not really sure how pedophiles operate, but why is it when a government doesn't get their way on policy, they bring out these bogeyman for everything from copyright law to crop irrigation?
4K cannot be compared directly to any success or failure of 3D. We heard the same arguments when they came out with HDTV. The major difference is that 3D, as the technology current exists, requires some type of glasses to view it. One of my friends said watching the 3D video with the glasses gave her migraines. Another friend who wears glasses says that everything looks blurry. Japan has already moved a large portion of their broadcasts over to 4K with no problems, mainly because there's no other devices required to use it. Could you imagine how much better a show like Planet Earth would look in 4K resolution?
One could argue that the First Amendment is exactly why he shouldn't have been fired. He didn't give up his citizenship when he started working for the government, so, as long as state secrets aren't being divulged, he should be afforded every opportunity to speak his mind. Every point, no matter how much you agree or how much it repulses you, should be given voice if we are to continue as a free society, or at least a close facsimile of one.
As for the sexual orientation thing, that's depends on which state we're talking about. It is still perfectly legal to fire someone for being gay in some parts of the US, sadly.
I've even had edits rolled back where I added a missing period to the sentence. Maybe it interfered with their plans to control the world, or something. Who knows?
Are you talking about the same type of people when the lost episode of Doctor Who came out, refused to acknowledge it on the page, even after it was reported by BBC Radio 4 and on the main page of BBC, but wasn't reported by BBC One? Even then, they felt they had to hold to a news embargo until midnight because they're apparently some news org now. You mean those people?
If there was any property the BBC should be open to freely giving away, it would be classic shows such as this. Without the fans, they would have nothing. Doubtful most of the scripts still survive.
Playing devil's advocate for a minute -- Many PBS stations purchased the rights to show Doctor Who in the late 70s, early 80s, so one could argue America helped offset the cost of the license some.
This story has been evolving throughout most of the day. RadioTimes posted a story, rather late UK time.
"BBC Worldwide will put the previously lost episodes from different stories – both believed to be from the Patrick Troughton era – for sale on digital platforms such as iTunes from Wednesday, RadioTimes.com understands."
Ummmm? Yes, yes, yes my boy.. I loved Troughton but watching Hartnell from the beginning, he is up there with my core group of favorite Doctors. The prospect of seeing the First Doctor's regeneration in its entirety, rather than the short clip from Blue Peter, would be nothing short of a miracle to the fanbase. Elements of Hartnell's Doctor can be found in Eleven. Every time Smith says "Come along _________", it's a throwback to the original era.
Given Auntie Beeb's treatment of previous episodes, expect them to throw whatever resources they can at it to restore it as close to crystal clear quality as possible and make an attempt to colorize them. Countless untold DVD sales are riding on it.

Damn you! Why didn't I see this when I still had mod points left. +1 Funny.

We're not employees... why should we help them for free? They have enough money to hire their own experts to field questions.

If only there was some kind of online repository of articles to describe that condition.

They're under a time crunch right now. They have to rush to finish building the consoles before those students' internship is over.
Of course I am. Hedy Lamarr was pretty cool! :D
Even our movie stars were inventing the beginnings of wireless networks.
Too bad they also didn't filter any titles that begin with Twilight.
Well, 11/9 has already passed, so we're screwed
