I really fail to see why anyone would want their music in the remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still. I don't even have to watch it to know just how terrible it'll be, especially since the original still holds up very well today (special effects and all!). Nope, just another butchered, CGI crapfest being shoved onto the ignorant minds of America.
Well... It is hard to take anyone like that seriously, isn't it? I mean, really, "Gayness"? These guys need to grow up. The internet seems to be little more than racists and homophobes when it comes to popular video games.
Blizzard may or may not fail with Diablo III. The fact of the matter is however, that all of the main guys behind the Diablo series are gone from Blizzard and have nothing to do with this game. Given their recent track record with garbage such as World of Warcraft, it's hard to tell what will come of this new Diablo. I'm hopeful however, even if I do agree that the art style is a little too "WoW-esque". Titan Quest seems to have looked better, and it's a few years old by now.:P
Also, was Diablo II really better than the first one? The gameplay was certainly deeper, but the story and atmosphere was lacking. Whereas the first game had a very isolated and personal sense of horror (everything happening beneath this one town, deeper and deeper down), the sequel was a globetrotting epic. I'd like to see a better balance.
I've been in the business for almost twenty years now, and I could not agree more. Of course, this is also true for a lot of things: the name of your lover, a favorite band, etc. I always get a laugh out of the guys that walk in and immediately want to show off their pre-existing stuff with "I got this one in prison". Of course, when you have so many scratchers out there that just want to take your money, it's not hard to see why people make poor decisions and end up with poorly done work.
Trolling? The "Awesome Bar" is horrid. It's like auto-complete on steroids! I just want a drop down of the addresses that I actually typed in. Anything beyond that should not come up. I have bookmarks for a reason.
I had bought a MiniSD SuperCard for my Gameboy Advance SP some time ago. Due to the SP's form factor I can take it just about anywhere, so I always have a robust arcade in my pocket. GBA games, Gameboy and Gameboy Color games if you like, as well as full NES and Game Gear emulation!
Three years has apparently made the "finer" plot points murky in my mind. Really though, does it matter? That doesn't change my claim at all, given that the entire concept was hard to believe. Batman will always work better on a more personal level. Had they gone with focusing on the Scarecrow instead, I think they very well could have had a film as good as The Dark Knight.
It is kind of sad however, that Christopher Nolan will probably never be able to do anything outside of Batman now. If anything, Memento showed that he's capable of so very much.
Except that Batman Begins was lame too. A secret society of ninjas trying to take over the world? Yeah, right. Maybe it would have fared better had they played up the psychological terror of the Scarecrow instead. It's pretty amazing that The Dark Knight came out as well as it did after what was a ridiculous restart for the film series.
I very rarely download films, as the quality is generally horrible. I've "pirated" a few obscure, hard to find titles, but that's about it. Outside of that, I've grabbed up cam rips of only two newly released films, one of which I later bought on DVD.
Assuming that modern films were worth watching, the cinema prices are ridiculous and provide for a highly annoying atmosphere anyway. Your plan to avoid both the crowds and the prices works for the most part (cheaper is not necessarily cheap), and is the only way I do it when an interesting film does come along.
I don't believe that the public necessarily likes those kinds of films. I think the general public just goes down to the theater ever Friday night and picks something due to vague word of mouth or cool artwork on the poster outside. Most people don't even know what they're paying to go watch is really about. Thus bad movies continue to earn plenty of money on the basic principal of people not having anything better to do.
Sad, really. I'm lucky if I go see a film at the theater once a year. There just aren't enough movies that deserve my money in that regard.
On the other hand, The Dark Knight was actually pretty darn good. I know because they failed to "delay" piracy.;)
I was actually quite surprised, given how lame Batman Begins was. I mean really, a secret society of ninja trying to take over the world? Riiight. They should have focused on the psychological horror of the Scarecrow instead.
Detail is not a fair comparison to make, given the time between films. The Incredibles opted to go for a fairly deformed looking human physic for all characters. This was in stark contrast to the fairly realistic portrayal of characters in Toy Story, showing only the humans in this fantastical light and thus adding an element of wonder to it.
The Incredibles was a fairly cookie cutter story. It lampooned a lot of the conventions of superheroes early on, but quickly fell into that exact mold. To top it off, it also showed off other glaring cliches, like the family coming together after strife and such.
Compare that to Toy Story, where you have the fairly original concept of a toy feeling neglected because he was replaced by the hottest new fad to sweep up the child demographic. It had the same predictable happy ending, but the journey was far more creative.
That said, Tron does not need to be CGI. The environments in the computer world worked fine as fairly angular concepts with real actors in the foreground. Also, I'll add that as much as I've discredited The Incredibles, it was an alright and certainly far better than Cars. I'm also very interested in Wall-E, but will wait for the DVD release to see it. My movie-going activity will probably stay limited to the X-Files this year.
Visually, The Incredibles was simplistic and not very stylized at all. That's just my opinion however. As far as story goes, it was indeed quite humorous in the beginning but quickly dissolved into the same cliched junk that it started out parodying.
Brilliance? Toy Story came out quite a while ago... I haven't seen them do anything brilliant since. Some butchered, CGI crap-fest sequel to Tron certainly won't help.
I would be very excited about a sequel, but probably not this one. It already looks to be shaping up to be a CGI crap-fest. I'd really like to see the philosophy and religion of the Tron universe explored further than it was, but I guess this will probably be dumbeddown and devoid of anything like that. You want a sequel, install Tron 2.0 on your PC and play it.
Oh, and why couldn't this guy ZOOM up onto the screen instead of having it sideways in the very bottom corner? Moron.
You can call it selling out but it sounds like one of the more rational ways of handling it. How else are you going to stay sane during the dark days of 'LXG'?
Oh, I don't know... Maybe by not selling out? People can't just come along and do whatever they want with his work, they have to purchase the rights and such. He is either signing said rights away (and is thus to blame), or never truly held the rights to begin with due to some inane contract he signed with the original publishers (and is thus not necessarily to blame, unless for short sightedness).
The entire career-oriented world is slavery then, not just one specific job.

More like "Faux-CNN Spam Wolf Blitzer Delivers Malicious Flash"!

I think that most people still have CRT monitors, dude. They're better anyway.

I assumed that he likes the challenge. Besides, Quake 3 was Id's last good game... maybe that has something to do with it. :P

Why keep wasting time on mobile telephones when Id Software could be pushing the Wii to its limits instead?

Didn't we already have three films about Wolverine?

It was wrong to make the first version of Mount Rushmore.

Zack Snyder (director of 300)
Uh-oh! Interest... waning...
JRPGs aren't really RPGs, they're slightly interactive cinematics.
