While I'm no Windows fan, I have to agree. Powershell is a step up from cmd.exe. Not the best step up as you have to relearn everything, but it's a step up all the same.
Moving between bash and other *sh isn't that hard, there's a few minor differences in use but it's all pretty similar. The main problem I see with Powershell is that most admins won't use it, they rely on devs to come up with scripts to use it. This forces devs to be jack of all trades. At least this is my experience from working in IT.
I loved the L85A1, was a great weapon, but you are right, close range it was a pain.
TF2 unlocks are vastly different to the "unlockables" in other games. They are always balanced out. As a soldier, I use the old weapon, same as with demo, scout, heavy, I even use old weapons with medic. It's more about play style than upgrade.
I don't know about in the UK, but here in Australia the iPhone is quite a bit more expensive than the iTouch, but so are Android phones. Most people get these kind of phones on contracts - $0 upfront and $59 p/m (anything from $350 to $500 of cap) over 24 months seems like the standard plan for a majority of the providers. I'd say people are drawn here by the small monthly payments. Why pay $380 for a lesser product when you pay nothing for it on a cap plan (the plans are almost identical to the BYO plans)?
If it was doing a DDoS of their SQL servers, wouldn't taking down the DNS be useless? I've always been taught to use IP rather than hostname when building any database servers.
Yeh, the journos generally just pull stories from the wire services, change the odd word and then submit it. I don't blame them seeing as editors don't care what the content of the paper is, so long as there's a lot of it.
I laughed so hard reading your post. Having worked for a newspaper, I can assure you they don't fact check as often as you think. Some journos don't fact check at all.
There's been plenty of hoaxes set up to expose how little fact checking there is.
I really don't see what the "reistrictiveness" is. If you're already comfortable with an iPhone, an iPad is no different. I actually find it a wonderful tool in my job in support. Nothing like walking around the building with all your documentation you need and full web access. I can't count the amount of times it's saved me a trip back to my desk to get information due to the firewall restricting sites for general users but not support.
Sure, it could be more open, but to be honest, I don't see any competition at the moment.
Technically it's not a POW camp, seeing as a majority of the "detainees" weren't part of a military of any sort involved in a war with the US - a "war on terror" is meaningless, you can't send a formal declaration of war to "terror".
It's an internment camp, and by extension a concentration camp. Look up the definition of both internment camp and concentration camp. The OP did not mention "nazi concentration camp", just concentration camp.
So you are 100% wrong with your rejection of the term.
I was thinking that. Everything from doors to driving are aimed at prominence being in the right hand. It's not like people complain that doors are right handed.
One thing I learnt from martial arts is that to rely on your stronger hand/arm is to only fight with half your body. I was always taught to spar in both on and off hand stances. It didn't take long to become good at this.
If you're a gamer you won't mind learning to do things differently. Isn't that the whole point of a game? You play it to get good at it thus enhancing the fun to be had.
I'm surprised by this too... where I work, if you do anything you can expect a call asking why at the very least. Anything that could be seen as an abuse would undergo much greater scrutiny.
The question this raises is that he would have been one of many people with such powers, so how deep does this go? Is it merely one person abusing their powers or a culture of this kind of abuse? Sure, where there's smoke there's not necessarily fire, but it's always good to check out the source of said smoke.
I must agree with this sentiment. It does look very much like a gimmick. I feel that tablet PCs (the convertible type) are a gimmick. Having bought one thinking it could be used as a tablet, I was sorely disappointed. The size and weight make them cumbersome, and the UI is completely useless (icons, links, menus are too small in Windows 7).
If Dell were serious about making a tablet they'd ignore the convertible market and leave it up to the ruggedised designs then aim for the iPad/Galaxy Tab market.
My thoughts exactly. I don't think I've seen a T1 link in 15 years.
Backbones run at substantially higher speeds - I recall from an exchange that most backbones are 560mbps fibre usually grouped in to 2, 4, 8, or 16 links.
I can't believe the ignorance of some people on slashdot to think that you could run a 1gbps service on a T1.
But they aren't, that's the problem. They're neo-cons these days. Someone like Malcolm Turnbull would be a true "Liberal", Tony Abbott (the guy who knifed Malcolm Turnbull to run the Liberals) is definitely a neo-con. They run the party these days and cop a lot of shit from Malcolm Fraser (one of the Liberal greats) for it.
Probably (I don't know much about "nerd" culture), I'm a geek and I'm loving my iPad... I only got it because there was no Android devices on the market at the time that were even worth looking at. Still a little way off there, gotta get that build quality up and ensure all devices are current releases (not 6-12 month old releases of Android).
I don't want to have to root a device just to get the latest OS.
Yes, but in English speaking countries it comes across as "The man who trims arse hair".
Never seen that quote, I like. Very valid and very true.
Actually, no, it gets the data from the same place that all traffic maps get data from. The radio network that transmits traffic.
The data would be so incomplete from phones (as you have to have the app running) that it would be useless as a measure of traffic.

No, there's new items... that are purchase only and can't be traded.
The model is ok, it's better than trying to charge monthly fees AND have a micro-transaction store... looking at you Cryptic you fucks.

what sickens me is that your comment rings true.

( I actually miss Tabula Rasa. :( )
Are you sick?
Do not mention SWG in the same breath as SWTOR again!!! Sony destroyed it... can't blame SWG for Sony's ineptitude.

Thanks for godwining a perfectly good topic.

By the seems of things... Word is not sufficient.
You must be new here...
I have a T-shirt from think geek that sums it up:
"Technical Support: Your ignorance is my job security"
I wonder if this is the employee uniform at Capita?
