Which is why you don't have any friends... But seriously - why is it self-righteous. If a friend was getting hooked on drugs would you intervene? If he was drinking himself to death would you intervene? If he was suicidal would you intervene? In all these cases you are making judgements that are "self-righteous". But you are a shit friend if you do not do anything.

Likewise, if someone starts abandoning all his friends (others have pointed out that this may not be the case, but for the sake of the original argument) and goes recluse because something happened to him I would certainly intervene.

This way, I think, you are simply giving it more power.

I know it's easy/popular to say that all religious/spiritual people are idiots or just delusional, but it's disrespectful, untrue, and generally mean-spirited. It's also easy to say that all atheists or non-religious people are heathens or sinners, but that is also disrespectful, untrue, and generally mean-spirited.

That's all well except that unbelievers (incl. those of other religions) by definition of most religions are heathers and sinners, and religious folk are delusional because they believe in things that are not real. I'm all for holding hands and living in peace but that doesn't mean you should pretend to be blind to what is going on.

The creation stories (AFAIK) don't tell of other places and intelligent life being created at the same time - so it would be a bit troubling that they left important parts out of the narrative. This is silly - SETI have contributed a great amount to science - just do a google scholar search for SETI. The actual search is not an scientific experiment - I don't know what made you think it was - its more akin to a scientific survey. You go in, and find things that are of interest and then you study them. Just like hunting for extra-solar planets, or deep sea dives or any number of other scientifically beneficial activities. All of these don't test premises but gather primary data for further study. So lets think more and rage less.

I haven't heard of a home-grown solution but this is possible. The haystack program was design specifically with the Iranians in mind, and the surveillance strategies of their govt - I know the authors are well versed in the situation there in regards to the internet and they felt this program was necessary so I assume its functionality was not yet available.

It would seem logical that they would have distributed the program through back channels already but I have not heard it being used (of-course they would not advertise it - law or not). In any case this at least allows them to openly distribute it without additional problems.

The authors have been loudly calling for this amendment for a while and I am glad that they finally got around to it. Nobody serious is going to invest time in your claims - so you first off have to collect evidence yourself. For your particular case I would recommend that you have a video camera nearby that you can record your dreams / feelings when you get them - which you can then compare to the actual event. You will need to have some way of proving the time of recording - a good way to do this is to have a TV running in the background - you may think of better ways. Then once you have accumulated enough evidence (2 to 3 solid incidents) to convince serious scientists to invest time they will think of something to test it further.
