... it's about preventing people from becoming our enemies in the first place.
Problem is, for that to be possible, you have to get into a situation where those people aren't our enemies. How do you get that? Getting rid of our enemies. How do we get that? There are various ways of doing it but, most involve doing stuff that make people our enemies.
My point? What you're talking about might have been possible (I don't think so though... most people are, in my opinion, assholes by nature regardless of race/religion/politics/gender/whatever) at some point in the distant past but, at this point, the only way of us getting to a point where we have no enemies would mean us being the only ones left. Then again, maybe I'm just too pessimistic...
Personally, I think the solution (or at least part of it) would be for women to actively and aggressively seek out and kick the asses (or some other punishment that seems appropriate) of the crazies that cause the problem. I'm talking about all of the other women that freak out out over any little thing and run to management and blow it all out of proportion.
It has to be done by women because, if any man attempts to do it he'll just be accused of sexual harrassment and we end up right back where we started.
Anyway, just my $0.02
Everybody keeps saying this but, I'm thinking that one cool use of all that extra space is to, maybe, include a lot of unlockable stuff. As an example, think of the next Final Fantasy. Imagine if they were to include any (or all) of the previous versions of FF (I-XII; maybe not FFII) on the disc and unlock them as you acomplish certain things in the game? The same can applied, I think, to any other game with sufficient history to have previous versions that are considered classics.
I always thought that the copyright attached/applied/whatever at the time something is published (I guess web publishing counts?). ASSuming I remember correctly, wouldn't the copyright, in this case, belong to the publisher of the site (ASSuming the original photographer had not published them previously)? He's the one who published them...
While I think you do have a point, I think it would also be fair to remember that it's his art that he happens to be fucking with. It's not like he bought the rights to someone else's work and decided to annoy the fans of that work... know what I mean?
Looks aren't everything, but do you really think that the N-Gage's looks (or how it would make you look by using it as a phone) didn't factor into people's decision not to buy it?
Who ever said I was choosing one over the other? I had planned on buying them both. Now I'll just get one and wait for the next revision of the other (DS).
1 - I don't have to justify anything to anybody.
2 - I didn't say I'd buy the PSP because it looked better. I said I wouldn't buy the DS because of the way it looked. For me, it's not an either/or (DS/PSP) decision. If the DS looked better, I'd be happy to buy both.
3 - Nintendo won't die because I don't buy a DS. Sony won't win the handheld war because I buy a PSP. Get a grip. My personal choice in gaming systems isn't that big of a deal to the industry (I can be a bit full of myself sometimes, but I'm not that much of an ego mainac).:P
4- I'll just wait until they do the next revision like they did before (GBA->GBA SP).;)
It may end up being a kick-ass product, but from looking at those pictures, it just reminds me of those cheesy throw away calculators they sell for $2. You know, the ones that are supposed to look like a sleek/sexy PDA, but are really just crappy calculators?
Being a Nintendo handheld, it'll probably rock, but... I'm not buying anything that looks like that. Sony's the one that'll get my money.
I don't know, but, for whatever reason, I just hate playing FPSs with the keyboard/mouse combo. I just like the console games more because of the controlers, but everybody here seems to prefer the PC games... I guess I'm the weird one.;)
I couldn't find anything for it (VMUs/KBs/games) at the local Funcoland/Software ETC and what was available online wasn't all that great. I was hoping to get MAME and/or an NES emulator running on it, but gave up.
This is a cool idea for any popular game... a DVD full of 3D images (like the QuickTimeVR image recently released by Bungie) would kick major ass. The ability to look at the artwork from any angle and the ability to zoom in/out would be awesome.

Not in my experience. ID has a very small user base, and none of it is in major newspapers.
So, what you're saying is that in major newspapers, Carmack's FPS aren't all that popular... figures.;)
I just hit the submit button and now I'm wondering how soon I can expect to get it (assuming supplies last)... any chance I'll get it before the game is released (I'm on the east coast)?
I'm not a huge HL fan. I'm more of a Doom/Quake fan, but since everybody is talking about D3 and HL2, I hope to get them both and see for myself what all the hype is about.
I took the plunge and switched to Macs so, aside from STVEF2, there isn't much for me to look forward to anytime soon (never got into the UT games).
I get my FPS fix on the XBox and I hear that both D3 and HL2 will eventually make it to the XBox because I hate playing FPS games with the KB+mouse... I just wish someone would make an improvement to the aiming with a controler, but as far as buttons go, controlers are better (for me).

Sorry, that was supposed to read as maybe not FFXI .

I'd like to hear more about it, if you wouldn't mind telling me. Can you post some links or email the information?
Guess I was wrong. Thanks for pointing out the mistake. :)

They'd probably call it the iPodAV (like they did with iChat -> iChatAV).
Dude, can I get a copy of that script?
My point exactly. Looks do matter. Maybe not as much as they do to me for everyone else, but they aren't insignificant either.

What, you play games with your eyes closed? :P
Your point?
I mean, it's not like I'm trying to deny it or anything...

The article author fail it? :P
Or... a beowulf cluster-fuck... or something.
I think maybe I should stop DrunkPosting (TM)...
I didn't know that. I guess that would work then.

Personally, I think it would be a difficult/annoying time to use the stylus to aim/shoot while using the d-pad to move... but maybe that's just me.
I just threw out my DC last week! :(
I couldn't find anything for it (VMUs/KBs/games) at the local Funcoland/Software ETC and what was available online wasn't all that great. I was hoping to get MAME and/or an NES emulator running on it, but gave up.
If I had mod points, your post would get some. :)
