If a company were litigating via appeal just because they felt they would be able to bury the plaintiff in enough paperwork to make him unable to continue prosecuting the case, couldn't you very well file an anti-SLAPP to their appeal?
I know it's normally used only at the beginning of a case but I would think he could definition file a motion for leave to file the anti-SLAPP and see where that gets him.
Holy crap! If Wikipedia says something it MUST be true!
It only takes umm.. approximately 6 seconds to load Google and do a search for "chewing gum site:*.sg" to come up with factual information rather than Wikipedia. Stop being a lemming, do your own work.
For example, here's info from http://dl.nlb.gov.sg/ask/singapore/:
Importation may be allowed for licensed chewing gums (medicinal and oral dental chewing gums that are registered with HSA) hand-carried into Singapore either by visitors/tourists or citizens returning from overseas trips provided the import quantity is reasonable, for not more than 3 months' supply for personal consumption. As a general guide, not more than 3 months' supply would be about 300 sticks or pellets in total. For more information on licensed chewing gums, please contact HSA at hsa_info@hsa.gov.sg.
Except for chewing gum with therapeutic value, the importation into Singapore of any chewing gum is prohibited under the Regulation of Imports and Exports (Chewing Gum) Regulations. The prohibition on the import of chewing gum except for those of therapeutic value is absolute. Therefore, no allowance is given for any person to import them for personal consumption.
All websites last accessed 12th Dec, 2006. So, again, chewing gum is allowed. Granted, it has to be for therapautic value but there's quite a number of gums that would actually fall into that category.
Having travelled extensively, including around-the-world, with technology. My best piece of advice is to purchase at least one Pacsafe mesh bag and ALWAYS use it when storing your gear in your room. Lock it to something that cannot be removed from the room.
In all my travels the only thing I had stolen was one of those small space pens that can write upside down. Given that it was stolen from my bag in a locked room, I'm certain that if I hadn't had Pacsafe I would have been missing MUCH more...
Shouldn't you search/. before posting up an answer like this?
If you had, you'd see there's a previous story about printers--laser printers specifically--containing errors in color due to a chip that processes the print jobs onboard the printer. The chip apparently inserts a pattern that may be read to track which printer made the fake currency.
In general, a large corporate licenses its pictures for use from professional photographers. Thus, walmart would normally not own the photographs being used in the parody site.
Because Walmart or any company that licenses photographs normally does so based on the number of impressions expected, the abuse by the photographs by a parody site could cost them real money.
I don't agree with the DMCA but it's not fair to cost any business money by using unlicensed images.
In the end, the photographer that does own the license could most likely have filed for a felony copyright infringement case without using the DMCA. In my opinion, the person using the images without a license got off easy.
You're certainly an ignorant little clod, aren't you? Gastric bypass surgery does NOT cost $100,00/surgery. The fees for it break down more like this:
$11,000 surgeon fee (w/o insurance) $2,500 assistant surgeon $1,900 anesthesia $20,000 hospital stay (w/o insurance; it's SIGNIFICANTLY LESS if done laproscopically like most are today)
It's actually the hospital that's so damn expensive. That's because hospitals are required to provide treatment to people that cannot afford it and they make up the $ by billing the.gov and by charging everyone else more. The reason insurance premiums are going up so quickly is because fewer people can afford insurance, hospitals are getting shafted in record numbers, and employed people with benefits are taking it in the ass because of it.
The figures above are very much a "worst case scenario" also. The surgeons fee for example is for a surgeon that makes people pay upfront and doesn't take insurance--there are several like that now. Surgeons that do accept insurance are normally contracted to approximately $1,750 per surgery. The contracted hospital fee is usually 60% less--at a minimum--than what I gave you above. That certainly wont stop a hospital from trying to--illegally--bill you the additional amount just to see if you'll pay.
That's how much the costs were when I had gastric bypass surgery. Roughly $40k/person for an "open" distal gastric bypass w/ duodenal switch. Nowdays they do it laproscopically and it costs much less. I believe the same surgery is close to $15k-$17k now because of the change from open to lap, in line with what an RNY (the most common gastric bypass) surgery costs.
I *always* pay via credit card and save all boxes and packaging. That way, if you bought an item because of the rebate and you're denied the rebate they have just changed the terms of the sale and you can go ahead and charge back the $100 on your credit card.
You get $100.. they lose about $120.. I'm happy.. fuck them..
I suggest you look into "slipstreaming" of Windows XP.
Basically, you copy the files to a folder on your hard drive. Then you download whatever service packs you want installed and extract them with the/x option.
Done correctly this gives you a directory with I386 pre-patched with whatever you want. Next, create an ISO image utilizing mkisofs from Cygwin (or linux) and finally burn it to a CDROM using Nero or whatever windows/linux app you want to use. PRESTO.. an install CD with all relevant patches!

Some of us run *BSD simply because Linux has no standardized code review process for the majority of the items in any given distribution.
I got tired of every little script kiddie trying to root my box with the exploit-of-the-week. You just don't see this type of thing in the *BSD's.
Because of the code review process, in my opinion, the systems are quite a bit more stable . The risk of using *BSD's for a production level system is less than if using Linux. Finally, in order to commit software into the *BSD's you generally can't be a two-bit hack interested in released shoddy code just to get his name out. Instead, you must really be able to contribute something..
That's why I don't use Linux.. take it or leave it.
I have seen from experience more than once than a house with ferrets running about seems to never have other rodents of any type (or anything other edible moving object not part of the family.)
I'm convinced that mice, rats, snakes, etc just pack up and leave the moment a ferret is about.
Is it really possible to sign away your constitutional rights?
Why wouldn't Kevin file suit against the.gov now that he's out for breach of his constitutional rights? (I mean.. if they're making you sign something in order to get a lesser sentence.. I'd say that's under duress..)

Amongst the many things that would make MSN broadband completely worthless (in my opinion) is its dsl modem that acts as a firewall and keeps you from playing games.
You wouldn't be able to change the MAC address with that modem unless you reverse engineered the firmware.
You can blind a camera using lasers that produce near infrared light. Check out http://www.naimark.net/project... for some examples.
That leaves detecting the camera and pointing the laser at it. You can either detect the reflections from the lens or the light from the autofocus.
Overall, it's not an easy problem to solve. I don't know that I'd waste my time/money on it.

I forgot to mention, if a person goes to a reservation in order to make the calls, then you're not on state land and the calls would be admissable.
It's true that WA is a 2 party state and that's actually another good reason to sue in Federal court because they would be admissable there.

This led me to think that if it happens in humans it could very well be that the woman is exponentially behind on the evolutionary scale.
