Stargate. It's true. It was created as a cover-up of the truth. And when that was found out, they made it into a plot-line of an episode.

  2. Bad Collars on Sun Snags Open Source Virtualization Company, Innotek · · Score: 0, Offtopic

I don't like this company. I bought a shock collar for my lab and it was defective out of the box. They tried to charge me $45 to exchange it under warranty - on a brand new product. They put a little tag in the box that says you're not supposed to return it to the retailer and the retailer wouldn't take it back because of that. Not a good company. lol... True story, different company. How many of you suckers won't read this part of my complaint and just go off? ;-)

That one exists, works, has for years and is in Europe, so MS can't touch them. Works great, too.

  4. Re:Kind of Misleading on Hotmail Doesn't Work With Linux Firefox 2.0 · · Score: 3, Informative

I have problems with hotmail on windows with FF2. When the enhanced page first loads, it loops in a javascript and hangs the browser. This happens almost every time. And because the FF people apparently don't know how to show the "stop script" dialog and actually pause the script so I can click the button, it usually takes me several minutes to get into my hotmail with continuous clicking of the "stop script" button. It's made hotmail unusable, so I switched to yahoo... And not microsoft has the opportunity to break that, too. Antitrust officials? Bah... They're ignorant or this shit wouldn't happen.

  5. NO thanks. on US To Extinguish (Most) Incandescent Bulb Sales By 2012 · · Score: 1

My last experiment with non-incandescent lighting didn't go so well. I bought a set of compact fluorescent lights. I put them in and a half hour later they started smoking and then quit working. I'd rather waste a little energy than increase the risk of burning my house down with crappy technology. I hope they come up with something better before then.

I agree! This is what Windows does and it works awesome! I can cut a file from explorer and paste it into the open/save dialog and then select it from there and open/save it. That is very cool. I can also rename/delete/etc. right in those ddialogs. Not necessary, but very cool!

Does this mean that they are going to try to pollute the world with more CFML? That is not a real language and will never perform or live up to expectations of a real language. I hate Cold Fusion!

It's false advertising. It all takes place on Isla Sorna (site b, same island as in 2). I saw it last night. I had free passes. What a waste! The effects are not nearly as good, it has some genetically engineered overgrown crocodile monster that kills the t-rex. It has a terrible (and unbelieveable) plot. DO NOT SPEND REAL $ ON THIS FILM.

  13. Amazon's Response on Jeff Bezos Named Time Person of the Year · · Score: 3

I sent them a nice email telling them that I will not use Amazon until they give up this silly patent stuff. Here is their response.

Thank you for writing to Amazon.com.

The patent system is designed to encourage innovation, and we spent thousands of hours developing our 1-Click® shopping feature. This feature securely stores billing and shipping information so that returning customers need only click their mouse once, without re-entering or re-confirming that information, to purchase selected items conveniently.

In recognition of the innovative and unique nature of the 1-Click® technology, the U.S. Patent Office awarded Patent No. 5,960,411 to Amazon.com on September 28, 1999.

We're pleased that the court recognized the innovation underlying our 1-Click® feature by granting a preliminary injunction barring barnesandnoble.com from using it while our suit is pending.

I hope you'll understand that we are unable to discuss this case any further as we are currently in litigation. Thank you for taking the time to share your views with us.

    Best regards,

    Erik J. Macki
