I would say that Nintendo gave birth to the hardcore gamer, how many hours did I play contra FF1 and Zelda in the 80's. Hard core gamer does not mean that you need to have blood and intense graphics its more that you play a lot of games.
Its not the games them selfs that are hard core but the gamers.
Ya I got a Wii and if they upgrade it to a DVD player I don't care I have like 5 with PS2's and normal DVD players. But if they add a hard drive and its not something I can plug into my Wii that I have now thats going to suck. I think my lesson is to not get into the next gen systems for a few years tell they are done switching them around. I don't know of any old systems doing this, the 64 had a little pack and the PS2 had the hard drive but those where addons. Its like they all rushed the next gen to the market before they had any idea the final product they wanted to put out.
Am I the only one out her that is sick of the 360 and PS3 coming out with different systems? I feel that if I buy a 360 or PS3 now it will be a mistake and they will have a new version out in a year that has a 200Gig hard drive and folds my laundry. I want a next gen system that is set in stone where I am not going to feel like I got riped off in a year when they tweak it again.
Call me cheap but 500 is still too much I will get a ps3 in 3-4 years when they have a bundle of $19 dollar games and I can get a system for $250 same with the x-box 360 I can just play my "last-gen" Wii for a few years tell the price drops on the next gen graphics systems.
I can see Nintendo with the kid friendly Wii not wanting AO games but the PS3 and the 360? what about Dead or alive volley ball or BMX-XXX
I for one have a Wii and would love to play this game on it, but I guess big brothers "Nintendo, Sony, and MS" know whats best for me.
I have two pistols and I would use it for home defense over a rifle, its smaller and easer to handle, my wife can use it and she would never be able to use a rifle.
Now the real reason I have two pistols is... for fun! That Red blooded American would not want to go out shooting some pistols and semi-autos ! better then any game!
It's just that I'd rather invite people over and laugh while we make asses out of ourselves. Oh ya Rayman's " Bunnies don't give gifts" running game is the best! Just don't play this game more then 4 times in a row or your arms will fall off.
Either I've changed or the game industry has - either way I have no reason to buy a PS3. I don't have much of a reason to buy an XBox 360 right now either. And I'm told the Wii games aren't overwhelming either - somewhat gimmicky. I want good party games like Fuzion Frenzy, good racing games like Gran Turismo, great story games like Ico and Prince of Persia, and a few shooters like Halo and Ghost Recon. First to provide gets my money. You want a Wii thats all it is (a party system.) I got a Wii and I am going to get a PS3 as soon as
1.The price drops or 2. they have 10 games that I want to play or 3. Someone gives me one... anyone?
I worked at an arcade in high school the hole in the quarter trick will not work with the newer 1985+ boxes or any arcade box with updated parts. The coin must go by 3 switchbacks before it hits the trigger if you had a string it would just get stuck. Slugs will not work in most coin triggers anymore as well as they now have magnets to jam them in the system. Now since I worked at an arcade this was no problem for me and my friends we would pop open the games and play all we wanted by going into the games OS "looks like a BIOS screen" and setting the game to free play.
I have to agree hard core systems make no point, in a year it will be outdated. The games that I would want to play with a system like that are better on a PC that I can update with better video cards and ram and so on. So how can a console compete with a PC for the hardcore market? I don't think it can.
PM2 is a must have for any fan of the original Mario on the classic NES. It has much more of a classic feel to it then an RPG feel like PM1 had. If I did not have a Wii I would buy one just for this game.

So if Nintendo lost the "next gen war" sales they would still win. What a novel idea to "make money" on your product.
