man, I am software guy, but when I read i960 spec, I was crying out loud for poor silly Intel -- "why the heck they are stuck with x86 if they have THIS ?????".
BTW, when Apple wanted new processor, they took i960 very seriously. You know what Intel answered them ? "We are not interested in this product". So, PowerPC won.
good for you then. but you see how much power (and knowlege) did you put in just eliminating something that you just did not want in first place. I am not sure that a lot of people will do the same.
If today belongs to the CD, tomorrow belongs to CD-Recordables (CD-R).
As more and more CD plants refuse to fill suspect orders, music pirates have been forced underground to burn their own CDs using CD-Recordables. Different technique--still illegal.
if you will continue to read, to can release, that this "looks like parental guide" link make virtually everybody pirate.
Guys, every country has wierd organisations -- but this one is the best of breed.
Ok, and when the Spice production will go up?

Glad you mentioned this. I was grown on different types of "Konstruktor" sets too. And now I have hard time to force my son to play with it -- he found Lego much easier. But easy is not much fun, right ?
Well, next StarOffice will be shipped soon, and will have some improvements (like separate applications, do not try to get over desktop, etc.)
So, what do you expect from pro-Windows and pro-M$ cnet.com to post? Critique on bloatness of Office XP? Hail Sun for support of free software (when last time did they prise Sun for anything anyway)? Have you noticed that there is no real comparison between new SO and current offering from M$ in this article?
Come on people, when you read something over Internet, make a note WHERE do you read it.
We should wait couple years till Intel will use the same approach because they will reach Da Limit. Whatever it will be -- speed of light, too freaking hot, some ABCDEF rules about emmision, MPAA, DMCA -- I dont know. They will just have to do the same. The thing is that consumer still want to have SIMPLE specification. So, they probably will ends up measuring in Pentiums IV or something understandable.
Oh, and most of hardware sites will try to get real Hz anyway...
Now what I will read on my screen in the morning if some stupid fly (or, god forbid, cockroach !!)will walk over my keyboard? On second thought, if there is no spaces between buttons, there will be much less food in my keyboard...
C'mon guys (and girls)... this is funny post. Or nobody cares about humor (although black one)? This girl just made good sarcasmic troll, and you blaming/. moderating system? This system suppose to bring up comments that are standing above(aside) the others. So it did.
"If you point to somewhere with finger, do not forget that four of them pointing back on you".
You can take this post as template, just replace names standing with capitals for your favorite corporate/country/nation/any group of people. We all have same problems, you know... The problem is to admit them.
Man, you should be marketing genious. Looks like it could be not bad business to build and to lease out these machines to companies for 3 years just to scary M$ salesmen.
Oh, "and even more" -- you can declare them automaticaly obsolete after this term...
They have screen grabber, so probably they will or
a) sue themselves, or
b) remove it from distribution to avoid a)
c) modifiy software that it will include legal string under screen shot itself, under every bited apple and other "apple" graphic on snapshot, and add legal stuff under word "apple" itself if it on screen shot.
but overall, it is getting worse every year, don't you think ?
tandr.
ps. Oh, and to avoid c) -- "This message in any media format (text, picture etc) cannot be modified by adding or removing any or all words."
hmm... I am not a lawer, looks like...
All these windows-shmindows are not eating your super-duper 1.7 P4 on constant basis, hell no. The thing is that you want this application to start faster, be more responsive on user input etc. This require a short period of super power, burst of some sort. Or smarter software. They can do it -- look on hibernation feature on Win2000 or WinME. They wanted windows start faster -- they did it.
Or Look on BeOS or good ol' OS/2 (*sigh*) -- their give you impression that you computer ROCKS, without changing anything in hardware. And yes, they both built on OO basis.
Moore law is not the thing that will stop or slow down constant revolution in hardware. Consumer's "laziness" will. I am skipping already one step, owning Dual Celeron -- PIII, will buy Dual P4 when it will be cheap. This is just way too expensive to upgrade with all these GeForce to GeForce3 etc. I can afford it (just because I love computers), but the price ? To be killed by wife's "What, another $XXXX ? It works ok, so why do you want this strange looking thing AGAIN? You just bought new one less then 2 years ago!"
So, when number of not-wanting to upgrade consumers will reach "critical mass", then software will rule. People will have to upgrade software to have work done faster.
A possible problem is that human nature will not be changed, and consumers will be lazy to upgrade software... God forbid to me, software engineer, live in these times:-)
I did not use more then a year, I think, and was logged on in msn without any big trouble. But, do not count on my memory, somebody else should confirm it.
BTW, I have 2 different passwords for same email address with them. do not know how. one I use with msn messenger, and second was send me back whne I wanted to register for Whistler and forgot it. wierd, really.
oh, and one more. AFAIK in Europe you have to provide ability to remove all data from database per customers request.
who besides americans cares about this... kghm... baseball ?
If something like this will be instituted on some really global events like Olympic games, or I dunno, Greenspan's speeches about rates:), then yes, it is time to cry. "CNBC: Profit from it. Do you want to hear second part of GS speech ? $9.99. We accept Visa, Mastercard,....".
I saw only some boxes with... and some promotion text. Ahh, I got it! it is Test Page For Filtering Software (proxomitron) !!!
Need to write some filter to recognise satirical pages though...
