I knew this thread would fall into the trap of recursive "reasoning". Repeat after me, "a company cannot exploit its monopoly to become a monopoly". Sure, if you're talking about how DOS came to be the dominant PC OS. From then on, though. Their success came mostly from leveraging their monopoly to gain advantages in other markets.
Well, I sasked your door permission to open by turning the handle, and when it did, since it was unlocked, I entered your house while you were gone today. If I didn't want you in there I wouldn't be publicly broadcasting the fact that my door is unlocked to the entire neighborhood.
"Since nothing was bolted to your floor, I proceeded to help myself to your TV and associated A/V equipment, your PVR, your Playstation 3, and your Wii."
Copy whatever you want, just leave a copy for me. If I didn't want you to have it I would have locked that stuff up some place that isn't accessible to the public which I explicitly gave permission to be there.
The sad and sorry thing is that I am a registered Republican, and I will probably not be voting for McCain, I definitely will not be campaigning for him, and I certainly will not encourage others to support him. There's nothing sad or sorry about not compromising your integrity to toe the party line.
If anything, you should do so in every election.
Why would he wait for the convention? Obama didn't even wait for Hillary to concede.
He's been the defacto nominee for quite a while now. If he hasn't changed his tune by now, he's not going to.
It shouldn't, but absent any idiotic vulnerabilities in other software, it's just an inconvenience to clean up the downloaded files. No damage is done.
When I bought my house, there were easily several thousand pages of contracts. Either you have never bought a house, or you have an unrivaled tolerance for tedium.
I remember the order of the arrow. Whacked out stuff. I had to clear river rocks from a ice cold creek all day holding a stick between my teeth so I didn't talk.
But I got a sash for it, so I got that going for me.
You're technically right. It's not a merit badge, it's a religious emblem and/or a knot insignia.
It's not required, but it does satisfy requirements to advance in rank.
So it's not a merit badge, it's much flashier (being amedal/pin) and serves the same damn purpose.
"A minor correction -- it's not that you have to be Christian, it's that you can't be an athiest. Buddhist, Taoist, Shinto, Hindu, Muslim, Jew, etc are all fine."
Well, you have to believe in a higher power (a god). Buddhism doesn't necessarily qualify, depending on the flavor.
Generally speaking creationists believe species didn't evolve, but were created.
It can mean just abiogenesis, but it seldom if ever is used like that.
"It's really lucky then that constitutional rights don't derive from citizenship! Being in the country is enough"
Actually, existing is enough. It doesn't matter where in the world you are, the Constitution doesn't say anything about applying only in the US.
Don't worry, the consumers will be sufficiently confused by there being ubuntu linux, suse linux, fedora linux, mandriva linux and so on. They seem to handle the different flavors of Linux and other OSes on their cell phones. In the end it's up to the interface. If it's familiar and/or intuitive, they'll have no problem using it.
Just call it Linux. Calling it Gnu/Linux completely ignores the work that's gone into making Linux a household name. Calling it Linux completely ignores the work that's gone into making GNU/Linux.
Which if they value thier sanity they will want to do with the same package they are already using on thier other machines. Then they need to buy another license, or switch to OpenOffice, Gnumeric, Abiword, Koffice, Lotus Symphony, etc. Many of which work just fine across multiple platforms, ensuring they can use the familiar program on whatever computer they like.
Unless they invite you by broadcasting the fact that their wifi is there and open.
Nuclear is still more expensive than coal, which we have a lot of, so why would we charge electric cars with nuclear power?
The right hates McCain, though.

Generalissimo Frederico Franco is still dead.
In this case Application B and the system are one in the same.

Christ, we can't even find a black candidate who isn't a bigot!
You backup to the same computer? I don't even backup to the same state!

So you're saying businesses can discriminate based on religion and sexual orientation?
The point is they shouldn't have to lie.

HTML email is evil; it's what makes phishing possible.
How is that different from non-plaintext websites?"It's really lucky then that constitutional rights don't derive from citizenship! Being in the country is enough" Actually, existing is enough. If it were a game to them, they'd be having fun instead of farming and level grinding.
