No I was going for more along the lines of if you have internet you will be forced to pay this new 'music tax'. Since the Internet is often a necessity these days (not on the same level as say food, water and shelter) but then again people 50-100 years ago would have considered a vehicle a luxury. So too have cell phones and the internet invaded our lives to the level where it becomes difficult to operate without it, many government programs and what not are only available through online applications and such. It'd be the same as say... Greenpeace demanding someone pay a 'Environment Tax' for every kWh that goes directly to them everytime someone live in a house with electricity on the grid.
But then you have artists bitching about not getting their fair share and wham... suddenly we're all subsidizing any music artists with 'music tax' welfare system.
Well I'll just tell you trying to crush the used textbook market is pretty sleazy. Demanding things of professors has a way of backfiring as they tend to be well educated and can see through bullshit like requiring people to use 'online services' for marking and what not. Also putting out new editions is kinda crap too when its the same shit in a different pile.
Thing is students need cheaper textbooks. Thats exactly WHY the used textbook market is booming. Pull your head out of your ass and cut the price on the textbook by half or more and you'll sell a whole lot more and you wont have to change editions every 3 years and bundle subscription services and what not.
The problem with using:'s in IP addresses is that they make them look like the typical notation for MAC Addresses (01:23:45:AB:CD:EF). It would be like putting.'s in the place of comma's in english can you believe how hard that would make things to read?
Sounds like indies should be taking their pound of flesh out of Soundxchange if that happens and turn around and give it back to the radio stations. If enough indie artists do it then it would be really easy to incur extra lossess for the MAFIAA front organizations.
Fact is it should be retardedly simple for an Internet Radio station to 'prove' how much royalties the Indie artists they play are due by Soundxchange after all they have the invoices to prove it in court. Maybe the Indie artists could get the whole royalty collection crap struck down as unconstitutional.
The internet radio should do 100% indie music and flip the bird to the RIAA and their 'royalties'. Not only would it be a big blow to the RIAA (since they would no longer be gaining free publicity well technically publicity that is being paid for by someone else!) but they'd be promoting independent bands, who will more often than not not demand royalties since they'd be getting free publicity.
Not just a lawyer but a PROFESSOR OF LAW... The guy who teaches people who are on their way to becoming lawyers. That guy definitely knows his stuff. Also you should look at the linked ones for related videos from Flex Your Rights (the guy used to be a top lawyer for the ACLU).
I think it'd fall under Fair Use since its a two frames out of a 1-2 hours movie, appropriately cropped/zoomed to focus on the faces. Quite common in movie reviews and what not.
Alternatively... If you need that much Overtime from your employees HIRE MORE PEOPLE. You can spread the work among more people and not have to deal with issues such as overtime if you have a large enough workforce.
Having input/influence on a hiring decision is not the same as having the AUTHORITY to do the hiring and/or firing. Basically if you want a litmus test just see if Joe can unilaterally hire Bob on his own. If he cant then he doesn't have the authority.
It also depends on the size and quantity of the chemicals. If they're tiny vials then they're probably no more or less dangerous than ordinary household cleaners and other products. If they're huge flasks full of unknown and unlabeled chemicals then yeah it might more credible.
Well they've held the olympics in some places with pretty bad human rights records before...
Though all the original poster has to do if this is a bona fide DMCA notice is to file a counter notice with YouTube and then YouTube is obligated to put the content back up. From that point on the IOC has to step up and sue over the copyright infringement because if they file another DMCA notice they'd be breaking the law.
In the free market, they'd either stay with the company because its providing much better service *OR* go to the guy who quit and started his own company because they have much better service.
Competition is something they should have to suck up and deal with it or step up and show your clients you're that much better.
There's an article in 2600 about some guy who seen a key similar to this, duplicated the basic parts with the help of a locksmith and figured out a welding technique that utilized two different metals as flux (gold and silver I think) to the point where it held securely. The key is that you weld the one with the higher temperature one first then the lower temperature one. The lower temperature one wont heat the first to the melting point which would result in it falling off.

Yeah 'Voluntary' sorta like how its 'voluntary' to have an internet connection...
Hell we do that up here in Canada... I end up paying Blank Media Levies and the only thing I burn to CD/DVD's are family photos and Linux Distros.

Sounds like something a virus writer would do... How'd you do it? Buffer Overflows and logic bombs?
There is no defense against an intelligent hacker with a soldering iron.
"If your security is shit, you must gag it"
As the saying goes...
Same shit, different pile.
If only we could truly make the punishment fit the crime in the case of corporations...
What we need is capital punishment for corporations. Basically letting you kill the corporation off and put its assets up on auction.
They also need to make it somewhat easier to pierce the veil and charge the execs with crimes when the corporation policies cause harm.
Interest should be accrued at credit card rates when companies are on the receiving end. Maybe they'd have doubled the price by then...
Also any idea how much a high interest account would have gotten in the time the RIAA refused to pay?

If this is true that you cant use a single still image capture of a movie for dramatic purpose then why hasnt this been sued out of existence yet?
Its fair use plain and simple. Just check it out for yourself.
I suspect it was more along the lines of a counter DMCA notice from the original authors of the work that got it back up than anything else.

The right to free speech is useless without the right to offend.
This should be publicized and they should get the hell off their asses and FIX THE PROBLEM!
And they should stop trotting out bullshit 'NATIONAL SECURITY' excuses for some minor public transit crap as an excuse to shut people up.
