I would probably use a athena widgets or a similar one, and not targeting any particular desktop to make it work with any desktop or even working without desktop at all, I don't even know why you need a desktop anyways!
Just because something doesn't use DRM doesn't mean it is designed to circumvent copyright. Also, if Forbes doesn't like it, they can sell files in formats that isn't supported by Windows! And about playing sounds/light outside of human perceptive range, it is silly and won't work anyways, for one thing, you can just build an analog band-pass filter or such. Also, I read somewhere that DRM was invented for recording studios, recording studios want to rip off the artists. I say there are many good arguments in here. Another page on Slashdot says someone will change the name of DRM to "stupid", maybe that is OK?
Does DRM apply in Canada? (I am designing a product with non-DRM, but it isn't designed to circumvent copyright either, it is designed to play media and run software that doesn't use DRM.)
I heard it is not legal to patent such things. To patent something that has been used all the time and is a publicly known to everyone in that field, it cannot legally be patented. Of course, the patent office doesn't care they will patent anything just because they will get paid for anything they patent.
Well, I still think there are many problems with Nintendo Wii, but still I would like to use the Wiimote on my computer (if I could get the bluetooth to work on my computer!)
Well, regardless of whether or not there is other planets, assuming Christ died to redeem mankind because of man's sins, the reason we would see Christ on Earth is because that is what we see. God can do anything so maybe multiple contradicting things may be possible. (Of course, I don't know everything. Whether or not religion makes any sense isn't up to me. I think quantum mechanics allows God to exist but other people say the opposite.)
I tell you, too many distrubutions is some of the too much choice that confuses people. (Although I read a book about UNIX, and a year later the first time I used the UNIX command-shell I used it perfectly. Not everyone is like this!)
I know Vista is no good. I have XP, but eventually I will also put another computer on the other side of my desk with Linux. Also many people find Windows easy so they use it (but there are also people that find Windows still difficult). And with viruses and spyware and other stuff it will make problems and slow down and nobody will know what wrong with this.
I have read these messages. The new game-console system that I am creating is designed to fix this problem (because it is more than just a game-console system). If you want something, get the DVD for it if you don't know how to do it yourself! But you still can do it by yourself if you want (unless the DVD is commercial and closed-source). Or, you could get a program written in BASIC and this new system will run it directly from the source-code without needing to do anything else. You can also edit it if you connect a (optional) keyboard.
I know there are many different Linux distributions, but I will make a new one that will work with your TV and/or VCR. (It might not be fully compatible with a DRM TV, I haven't tested it, but if you set the aspect ratio and just don't use the HDMI, then it should work OK.) I may fix the kernel (and even the BIOS) to provide compatibility. Most people can do it by just inserting the DVD and push START button (on the game controller or IR remote control), you don't even need to log in or anything like that. But, if you want, you can do nearly anything more complicated than this if you prefer.
I think that the person or organization who does the work of cleaning up and restoring a *formerly* copyrighted work should get the benefit of their efforts by getting the copyright of any copies made of the cleaned-up/repaired version.
If the original copyright-holder does that, then great. But too bad if they can't be bothered to keep making available a work to the public. I should just say that if it worked like that then people will steal copyrights and stuff. (Unless the old version is still public domain. If the old version is still public domain, then it isn't as much as a problem as it would be otherwise.) Still, even if you fix a previously copyrighted work then you can still sell it and stuff
.... Is it fair that iTunes limits players or is it fair to demand that iTunes support an open format? Damned if I know the answer. No, neither is fair. But it is fair to request that iTunes support an open format, no fair to demand such thing (make your own if you want an open format!).
The RIAA is a cure that is worse than the disease, piracy, that it fights..... Yes, that is true (in my opinion and many others).
Of course if someone, for example, re-released an old recording after having, say, cleaned up the recording by substantially removing noise and other recording defects with the resulting work being technologically a much improved product over the original then they should be able to benefit from the results of their work by means of a copyright. but only the original author should get a copyright for that.
I also think that if no copyright for out of print, then also things with DRM (such as the old NES/Famicom games, no longer available, but now they put on Virtual Console with DRM) then it should also be considered out of print, until they fix their mistake and remove all of the DRM, then the original company is "printing" it again.
I think they added too much pokemons, just the pokemons #1 to #150 is good enough. They also add too much other stuff, such as genders of pokemons and things. Even Pokemon Red/Blue is good but is a few things not very good. I would make it a bit differently.
I think free will relies on quantum effects. I think that "consciousness" is a bit of quantum effects, but mostly is in your brain, and you cannot understand anything without your brain! In my opinion, quantum mechanics lets contradictory theories exist and possible both correct (such as: evolution/intelligent design).
I am making a new system (it is much more than just a game console system...) which should be a good BASIC interpreter when it is done. Better than ZX Spectrum. If you disagree that it will be a good BASIC interpreter, please tell me. Opinion is a good things to know about. One time I made DS-BASIC (which isn't very good, it is retarded) but that was because of the limitation I had. Entirely new system cannot have such limitations.
Can't you just purchase any computer and replace the operating system and BIOS with your own? (If you can't, I guess some minor companies that don't exist yet will then sell proper computer that actually works)
I would probably have listed them differently, but that is just a difference of opinion between you and myself and other people. It is true that Microsoft knows how to make and sell operating systems, but really Vista is a mess. And Linux is still used, secure, reliable and all sorts of other stuff, it is just a bit harder for most people (for one thing there are so many distributions to choose from), still many people use it. You forgot Windows ME. Windows ME belongs to the worst quality/stability/security list. Win3.1 and DOS are very old and not used anymore. But software is still written for DOS, and they will run in Windows XP as well. And Linux, if you have a DOS emulator on Linux. Even Windows software can run on Linux.
So, does it mean, that if you pray, you must pray only in private when nobody has a chance of noticing, because if they notice then they will catch you to jail. Or is there something else that I have missed? Well, Article 36 seems almost fine, except for the fact that the government has power, which is what ruins everything. Am I right?
If Windows logs indicate stuff about external drive and stuff, use Linux and rewrite the software to not write logs about such things. Pay cash for anything. I don't use, own, or plan to own a credit card. Or use your game console system, VCR, DVD player, or whatever to store stuff like that. I don't have a lot of warez (actually I hardly even have 1 or 2), and even the stuff I do have isn't stuff I could pay for if I wanted to (or had the money)! P2P software isn't illegal anyways, most of the files downloaded are illegal. You could encrypt all of your communications. Write a BIOS that stores stuff in the hard drive so that it seems to be something else if viewed from another computer or if the correct password isn't entered. Make the password change automatically and use a calculation to enter it. Somebody looking at your password will confused.
That is because China doesn't follow their own constitution! Their constitution says that free speech and stuff is allowed, but the government doesn't like that, so they don't use the constitution. When your constitution reaches zero, you're dead!
True. China/Cuba and other countries that call themself communist, aren't really communist, they are actually blasphemies, not communist. Communism doesn't exist.
I don't like it either, just people are going to buy Windows, or a X-Box, and people will have to pay licensing costs and other stuff. Also, when the old version of Windows expires, people will have to purchase new one. And the new one is DRM. WiiConnect24 is supposed to let you update game content online as well, but really it messes up things. I am starting to make my own game console system, and it is not going to have such problems, because it will be Open-Source Linux based, and if somebody wants to write software to update game content by Internet (whether for free or whatever) then no problem! You could also write software for NES/Famicom or whatever (and you could put the file on a DVD,USB,Internet, etc.) , and be able to run on many different kind of systems.
I would probably use a athena widgets or a similar one, and not targeting any particular desktop to make it work with any desktop or even working without desktop at all, I don't even know why you need a desktop anyways!

Because the government is stupid, that's why.
