Yeah, no one ever has lifelong emotional issues stemming from being sexually abused. No, once the person stops raping you you just magically get over it and it's like nothing ever happened at all.

Yes, Republicans are truly the not "big government" type. Yeah, that's why Ronald Reagan started us down this path of financial ruin with his, for the time, record deficit spending? The same people who want to use the government to legislate their morality? The same people who were totally for spending 100s of billions on wasted wars so that Dubya could get back at mean old Saddam for making his daddy look bad? Since when has the Republican party since the 1980s ever done anything to shrink the government on the whole?

No. Nice strawman, though. If he had murdered the guy he would be facing a mandatory life sentence rather than this 12 years.

BTW, I'm not a "think of the children person". The fact that he tried to destroy this person's life with child porn is irrelevant. He could have tried to frame him for any other number of things and I still wouldn't feel a lick of sympathy for him.

Soulskill's reviews score is mostly meaningless because probably 3/4ths of his reviews are 8/10. This was 8/10, Halo Reach was 8/10, Dragon Age: Origins was 8/10. Champions Online got an 8/10. I could go on. While he occasionally goes down to 7/10 or sometimes up to 9/10, probably 95% or more of his reviews are an above average score which makes his scale meaningless. It's like the review sites that give every game at least a 9/10 no matter how much criticism they give of it.

  16. Re:Free VoIP on Preliminary Finding Invalidates VoIP Patent · · Score: 2, Insightful

I really wonder if it would be so bad.

It would be. No one is going to invest in companies that they could be held personally liable for its actions. Why should some mutual fund investor (which make up a whole lot of investors) be held liable for the actions of some company just because the person running the mutual fund bought some stock in that company?

Just seems like a big lack of responsibility and accountability.

Most investors have little or no say in the day to day runnings of a company. It's not as if they have some direct feed into every single decision that the company makes or even have any sway at all over the day to day actions. So, no, it is not a lack of responsibility or accountability. If you want to hold someone responsible, you hold the person who authorized the wrong doing (usually some executive or board member) not the person who just happened to own stock in a mutual fund that owned stock in the company.

To make this political, then why does Glenn Beck give a shit about "where the money comes from" so much?

Because he's an blustering asshole? What Glenn Beck says or does means little to me.

Why do New Yorkers care where the money for a mosque comes from?

    Because they are also assholes?

The people investing have no accountability, right?

It depends. If those people directly involved in the day-to-day running of the company and those people are directly responsible for ordering or personally carrying out a wrong-doing, yes. If it's some minority shareholder who has pretty much nil sway over how the company is run, no.
