    Except Backpage was editing the ads before posting them not simply posting them as is. It does change the facts of the case and their liability. Strange that the summary omitted such an important deal.

  21. What I do not like is if spy technology gets used in peaceful times or against befriended nations you form alliances with. Maybe some intelligence is appropriate, and in fact important for a better diplomatic climate, but that can happen with simply doing open source collection.

    Snapchat debuted sponsored lenses in fall last year, and charges a pretty penny to advertisers wanting to get their brand on people's faces.

    No one said anything about legal liability, but, yes, it is the site's responsibility to vet the ads that are shown on their site. If they don't want to live up to that responsibility then they need to fuck off and die when they whine and complain about ad blockers.
