My two sons and their friends played GH3 a lot (prior to GTA4, that is). When I would mention that there were a couple real guitars and a foundation-shaking amp down in the basement, all I ever got were funny looks. Man, I would have killed to have an electric guitar as a kid. But like others have said, it's easier to play a game than it is to grow some talent. I've tried it, and I've got to admit, it's fun.
On the other hand, getting semi-competent on a guitar really isn't that hard, either. Power chords are easy. 1-4-5 chord progressions are easy. Spend a little time memorizing a couple riffs, and you can make some remarkably satisfying noise.
Sounding great is hard. Sounding okay is easier than it looks.
He realized that his mistake may have improperly influenced the outcome and now he has magnanimously given the person another chance even though it would have been easier for him to ignore it.
You can never expect that human actions will be without error. Judges, & lawyers all make mistakes like the rest of us. What stands out about this is that he did something about it. His actions are remarkable, and I applaud him.
If everyone else held themselves to the same standard, we wouldn't have this BS in the courts.
UFOlogy meets the DaVinci Code. It's a conspiracy theory chaser's dream come true; I'm surprised it hasn't happened already. Or maybe it has, but there's been a conspiracy to keep me in the dark. Hmmmm...
He's elected by an earthly set of Cardinals, so I guess he's got jurisdiction here only on the 3rd rock. I suppose alien Catholics on other planets will simply have to elect their own Popes.
Regardless, the biggest reason there are all these conspiracy theories that the Governments aren't forthcoming with their secrets. In security, some things need to be kept a secret. The government is no different. Heck, my computer is no different. If a bunch of UFOlogists insisted that my/etc/shadow file somehow contained top secret proof of UFO existence, I would decline to share it with them.
That issue has been solved! Scientists recently found the missing link between inanimate, lifeless matter and the first primitive protozoa: an Anonymous Coward fossil.
I long ago came to the conclusion that my lack of talent, coordination, finger speed, rhythm, and ear for tone will always prevent me from being successful playing the guitar. But every now and then I get the urge to make some satisfying noise. When I read your message, I was screwing around, trying to remember a couple of the few riffs I ever learned. It would be nice to own a Strat, but my meager abilities just don't warrant it.
Hmm. I guess I'd be willing to agree it's available to the Windows community at no extra charge, but I still say there's no such thing as a truly free lunch.
Offtopic, though, I noticed your nick. Do you play?
It appears clear to me what we must do. I believe it would be difficult to find a group of people with a larger aggregate porn collection, or larger distributed array of DVD burners, than we who read slashdot. So let's get busy archiving our porn onto DVDs and send them such a vast quantity of smut, no poor GI will have to resort to the virus-infected local stuff over there.
Remember, you don't necessarily need to be an American partiot, you just need to be kinda pervy.
Does this mean that when I make a call with my cell phone, Verizon can bleep me out if I mention a competitive service? If a company makes a communication medium available to me, and I use it, I expect that the provider of that service will not interfere with my communication unless I very specifically abuse the system or break the law.
I don't dispute a person's right to privacy in their home. However, my understanding of the article is that the objection comes from the taking and use of pictures of a public setting, ie people sitting in a sidewalk cafe.
Here:"It should be borne in mind that the protection of privacy afforded by article 9 of the Civil Code is quite wide, since it operates both in a public and in a private place..."
I thought it provides an interesting contrast to the rhetoric in the recent/. discussions on British CCTV surveilance of public streets.
What really amazes me is that yesterday people were arguing that people on a public street had no right to expect privacy from cameras.
Before people jump all over me about the diffences, yes, I realize that this is apples-to-oranges. There are lots of differences in how and why the laws are written, and a big difference between law enforcement cameras (presumably not for public distribution or corporate profit), and Google cameras, etc etc etc.
What surprises me is that two societies with such close physical, economic, historic (+/- ad infinitum) ties have such radically different expectations of control over personal images taken in public.
Almost everyone in my neighborhood has dogs, and no one allows their dog to poop in other yards. It's kind of a MAD standoff with poop instead of nukes.
I could lend you my Rotties. They might help change her attitude.

Not to be overly pedantic, but how is shooting a tree wrong?
John Fogerty's old CCR songs ended up the property of Saul Zaentz, who later sued Fogerty for sounding too much like his old self.
LMAO
It's the occult version of jumping a shark, I guess.
Sorry, dude. I have no idea what I was thinking. Honestly.

Whoa, do you suppose that could be the solution to the NASA budget crunch?
UFO true believers stop pestering the UK government and start demanding to see the Vatican's top secret UFO files?

Sorry to hear about your PC. You must be using your psychic internet connection then? ;)

FWIW, I hope you get back into it.

I'm not saying I blame them. Heck, what they're doing is great, as far as they take it. I just have a different definition of "free" than MS does.
