I know, I know. They supposedly did bring it back by making the Dr. Who "made for t.v. movie". And who made it? ...Fox of course, blah. With a Tom Baker wannabe lookin' guy. The script was god awful. I would hate to see what they do to *smirk* Battle Star Galactica. That show sucked to begin with. BBC... help!

True, the GBA resolution out does the Lynx by far. But, at least the Lynx had the backlit screen. The LCD technology was a bit odd, but still excellent for back in the day. You would think that Nintendo would be smart enough to allow the GBA the capability to play games in the dark. In regards to your question, I always held my controllers in my left hand (i.e. right handed playing). The old Atari controllers were pretty much universal for the most part (1 stick, 1 button). Most of the modern ones I've seen have been developed for the right handed folks.

Even though it's as old as heck, my favorite hand-held gaming system has got to be the Atari Lynx. The games, graphics, and controls are all class. The game boy is ok, but even this "new" release still looks like it's light years behind the old Lynx (let alone the games for it).

Try having this kind of shit happen in your hometown and see what it does to you. I was working at Denver General Hospital when this all happened. Some of the kids from Columbine were put there for intensive care. *ugh* One day I was playing Grand Theft Auto, turn off the play station and then see the breaking news on TV. I never felt like such a jackass. After seeing the Columbine arguments unfold following the disaster, I began to empathize with the parents and some of the anti-violence views. I don't believe that video games are directly responsible for violence such as Columbine. I think it's absurd to try to sue the companies who sell them. I do believe that violent material can be the symptom of a possible destructive lifestyle though (i.e. stupid skinhead music). Just like porn, cigarettes, and booze, we need to put age limits one these sorts of things. And yeah, maybe it will have to be 21 and up...

  16. Freedom of information is a bad thing too on AOL Censor Tells Most If Not All · · Score: 2

As our friend so brilliantly voiced in his experiences at AOL, we see the Internet being a central point for many rather scary ideas. Because of the freedom (and ease) to exchange any and all information, we've seen an serious increase in the number of debates upon issues we might not have even touched previously. I'm going to hate bringing this topic up (again), but the Napster debate would be an excellent example of a recent conflict strictly related to the ease of information exchange. A better example would be child porn on Gnutella. I can't argue that there are numerous benefits to the freedom of information on the Internet, but can we really go on ignoring the extremely bad ones? Freedom of speech vs. freedom of information, I guess we're stuck at a catch 22 for the moment.

o Would your co-workers "stick it out" for your well being?

o If it turned out to be convenient, would management lose you without a second thought?

o Chances are too likely that YOU'RE COMAPNY IS NOT LOYAL TO YOU.

o What are the chances of your company crashing and leaving your friends w/o jobs anyway?

o Are they paying you competitive pay (I'm sure your CEO probably has enough to go sailing )?

o Can you see a pattern in bad management decisions (if they screw up often enough in the past, you know they'll do it again in the future)?

    o Are you content?

My company laid off about half it's workforce on valentine's day (we termed it the v-day massacre). Ever since then I've been debating whether to "move on" or "stick it out". I think I'm ready to go.

I suppose if you considered the loss of such skills like, hunting, raping, and pillaging becoming dumber, by all means. Most "philosophical" and academic arguments point to a likely hood that a society becomes emotionless due to information overloads. This loss of emotion doesn't mean that an individual is "dumb", per-say. Let's take a look at our striving techno-wenie youth, technically smart, bored, and many rather self centered... I think we can also draw the conclusion that because of these standards we've become more self concerned about our well being as an individual, rather than as a populous. I haven't met a programmer yet who wants to give away of small portion of their large pay check for any sort of thing that doesn't benifit them directly. He's gotta have the car, the house, the computer, etc.... the women ;-)
