By that logic I have more of a right to the road than you/ I own a car and pay rego. I also pay tax that the council uses to maintain the roads. I bike causes much less wear on the roads I'm probably subsidizing you.
Actually it seems to be the opposite.
Drivers will generally notice a flashing light and not cut out on/in front of you. With a solid light they frequently don't notice you at all.
Maybe they only give way because they can't tell how far away the light source is, but it keeps me alive so I don't really care.
I've noticed that but I thought it was a bug in KTorrent (since the 4.0 conversion). It seems to only happen at random times and restarting fixes it for me.
I never said anything like that. I generally wouldn't be without an IDE, the one I use at work at the moment is visual studio.
There is a big difference between using an IDE and relying on it though. And if you've programmed much you've probably run into the type of idiot that can't "code" anything if theres no a wizard to let them do it.
The GP seems to be the type that needs instant gratification like perl for scripts and a gui designer. And hes saying java doesn't have an extensive class library (most people complain it's too bloated).
"Just a central directory for Java classes, or whatever they're called (just to confuse programmers)"
He can't read documentation and doesn't understand the concept of classes. So of course hes not going to read documentation. He'll most probably end up in a vb sjop.
I wasted half of my preteen days on that one. Mainly because I didn't realise there was a "fast forward time" feature..... I used to read a book while traveling between islands. And my save games usually srewed up befor I could finish it.
Wow. Your wrong.
Java can do most stuff on it's own and has a bajillion libraries for anything else, no cpan equivalent, but neither does.net. If you think.net libraries are excessive and javas are non existent then you've clearly never looked at the java documentation.
But then again, you don't sound like a professional developer. You obviously can't read documentation and can only program with an IDE holding your hand.
Is it really that hard to make an open api with replaceable components. That way google could just plug in their search and have it open to the whole os.
MS still seems to be stuck in the monolithic, tightly coupled programming era.
I saw our communications minister (Helen Coonan) on lateline last night.
She had the perfect solution to change all our broadband woes, change the way the measurements are taken.
That sums up the current government though. If you don't like the statistics change the methodology.
It's not just the developers. My ex boss was adamant that all configuration files should be stored in program files and no ammount of argument could convince him otherwise (he was a network admin so he should have known). Needless to say this screwed up on any remotely secure setup.
I wonder if they've fixed the app for LUCs and vista yet!
Really, I've looked for it several times. I heard several years ago that it was still banned in Queensland so I assumed this was still the case (considering it does have a violent rape scene).
Actually I think alot of us do like censorship (Won't somebody think of the children). X rated movies are banned outside of canberra. I still can't buy a copy of clockwork orange in queensland and we have no R rateing for games.
In this country 2 emo chicks commit suicide and we have people jumping up and down trying to ban myspace, chatrooms, etc.
Would you prefer the family first party? Half of their platform is to firewall Australia. I'm no liberal fan but we have a pretty good communications minister in Helen Coonan.
I find properties really irritating. Depending on the context it makes you have to think about whether you will have a property accessor or if theres a get method.
Their fine alot of the time but it's a pain when you want to overload the getter. After that you have 2 choices. Add a get method, which is inconsistent and or add a property, also inconsistent.
Thats the main reason I prefer the java standard libraries over the.net ones. Everythings build around predictable patterns (usually) and they don't throw in too much syntactic sugar, which keeps everything much more consistent.
Disclaimer: I'm a.net programmer at the moment.
Yeah, but not until we start compiling. They can be done in parallel after all.

Is there such a thing as a good cms? It seems like most designs seem to breakdown when there interdependencies between data.
Then again, I've only ever used DotNetNuke, which is a complete joke of an application.
http://www.vgchartz.com/ Wii is currently outselling PS3 6:1

Yeah, she mentioned changing the "standard" with US pressure too.

What about when the students want compatability with their home computer? They have to buy ms office.
Because it's an unfair advantage to make an insecure OS and then charge "protection" money!

Thats what http://your-voice.com.au/ attempts to do, at least for Australian audiences.
your-voice.com.au allows voters to ask candidates their own questions, not what someone decides the big election questions are.
The only downside at the moment is getting enough people to request their candidates join.
